I just scouted with warships in my fleet while in DP. I remained in DP. Is this normal? I s it only buying warships or attacking someone that takes you out of DP?

keep in mind this is not a good way to scout, if you are planning on long-term exploration. it is only worth not building scouts, if your planet count is low, and you have a stable economy, becuase even if you dip into debt you pick up debt interest, and sometimes that will get too big for beginning players to get out of and forced to restart

If your ships have a scanner it is possible to explore with them, and yes normal.
