commercial infra is the most self sustainable infra .. only need a 2K land fert to feed ur pop .. (if u leave ur pop on your planets)
only thing commercial empires really have to buy is minerals.. terran empires use so many Cg`s and they only increase income slightly

perhaps 7 is a nice number... as for me, i choosed 10 coz it`s easier to calculate how much pop per land ratio... since i`m a terran and having 2 extra housing frm mission, i just researched until and 8 and get the 2 for free...

Aba is right 7 levels of housing is the optimum for a commerical empire, it is 7 for any size land, put only starts to make a easily noticable difference at high lands.

I havent bothered doing the math concerning optimal infra, i think it would also vary depending on the race. It`s just my own theory, im not saying im right

Miner. Heh, just restarted as miner like 10 minutes ago... terran got really really boring. (the free 5 lvls of mining in the missions helps out a bit hehehe) 20 in mining, about 10 in housing maybe and the rest in industry. maybe throw about 50 into agri just for the hell of it =P

thats the amount of housing and commercial i am able to put on a 64K U.large.. u can do the math do know exact amout of land but it would take alot more housing to put full population on a planet of this size with less than 20 housing

I think the optimal infra in hosuing for a non-tax empire would vary depending on their land. as the more land they have the more land will be freed by having extra infra in housing which can the be assigned.

I`ve been playing this game awhile and never knew that. You research mining and you take it off the planet faster? LOL...what a newbie.
actually optimal is 7 but thats splitting hairs and it only really shows dividends when you have 100k+ land anyways

lol at most with no mining infra i use to waste 20 turns strip mining c2s ... just explore till max col cluster once then by time you get a c2 you have 200-300 pop so it took 10-15 turns to strip fully
i did the housing somewhere near the beginning so i just went with it..

Going for that direction myself, but most infra i would be put in mining is 20-25, for turn effectiveness
