it is a stanard mathematical shorthand used for writing large numbers. stephen emplaced a character limit to prevent people posting too much in one batch, but since he is a complete nub programmer he didnt do the job properly and include a numeric only input filter. so it is STILL cheating same as it has always bin and anyone caught will just be suspended.

Well Sol, imho it can`t be compared to either bypass/cheat/hack or exploit. It`s Stephen himself that put in the option to use those mathematical formulas in the fields in the first place. It`s something that`s been in this game for as long as i can remember and that dates back to 2005.

If it really was something unintentional, i would like a it added to the rules specifically so that everyone knows it. I`ve even had an ok from GameAdmin once that it is *not* against the rules. I asked him specifically as i could not find any clear answer anywhere.

What part of bypassing a pre-set limit on a game do you think ISNT cheating.

ANY bypass/cheat/hack/exploit to gain an advantage is cheating.

it IS perfectly legal to post 10 lots of 999,....,999 so you might as well just do it and not risk getting suspended.

AFAIK it isn`t cheating. It doesn`t give you or another empire any advantage in anyway. IMO posting 10 stacks of 9,999,999 is similar to spamming the forum with the same post over and over again.

PS Mac, you`re right, I should`ve left that part out :oops: Perhaps a mod could edit my post and delete that specific part ?!

ic... i guess FF works differently... coz with IE, i can`t go higher than 9,999,999 when it comes to minerals... only food, ore, RM and CG can go higher than 9,999,999...

I don`t think you should be telling people how to do it, even though I agree with you RS... But you might get into trouble.

What the heck is the big deal with posting more than 9,999,999 units of minerals for sale anyway? Would someone please guide me to the correct location in the game rules that says that it is not allowed to type in 9e9 when selling! I dare you all !!

Sol this can be done by accident you know...? If you have data entry saved, and you have previously entered a number into GC greater than 9,999,999 then accidently clicked it when sellings minerals, sometimes it posts... For example the other day I posted about 450mil TM by accident! lol (brought it back straight away...)

Sol... i make your job simple with less one name... count me out frm the suspects list... i`m a heavy buyer... not a heavy seller... lol...
