Makes me wonder why the admins and guides even bother trying to enforce it unless it`s for the principle of the thing. Sort of like on TV when police arrest one of those moronic criminals that only end up hurting themselves in the end by comical means. Or like Joe Dirt when he took hostages at the Grand Canyon Park claiming he had a bomb strapped to his back, when in reality the only thing strapped to his back was a great big (atomic bomb shaped) septic tank filled with human excrement. ^_^

Always like making people smile. :)

If getting suspended weren`t enough of a reason for not posting above the limit, here`s another as posted by Rip quoting GameAdmin:

"the limit had been put there as they had sometimes experienced erratic behaviour where the seller would not get money from the units posted that exceeded the max amount"

Do you really want to risk not getting money from the units that exceeded the max amount? I mean suppose you posted your 400 million Red Crystal at 400, and it just so happened to be entirely bought out by a couple players at max credits. You would only potentially see only 4 billion of that cash. You would never see the other 136 billion cash potentially.

So those who try to post above the limit are not only going to get suspended, but they`re simply just throwing money away potentially if they manage to sell more than 10 million of the minerals.

This should pretty much show that there is ZERO gain from this activity.
R RipShredder
Ragnarok you just made me lol :)

Anyway i agree.
R Ragnarok
It`s quite simple Rip, just assume that the only valid interpretation of the rules are those of Sol and Mara and everyone who agrees 100% with what they say no matter how illogical or unfair it may appear. Everyone else who differs from these two individuals are moronic individuals who don`t know what they`re talking about, which can include but is certainly not limited to all other admins, guides, experienced players, and your mom. Any clarification of the rules you need can be had from those 2 people in the help center or via PM. Just don`t talk about it in the forums with them where the rest of the ignorant GC community may hear or possibly dispute these rules. ^_^

Now if we could only sticky the above statement in a separate post in big red letters, GC would be golden.
R RipShredder
Well, if GameAdmin has nothing to do with GC, why does his name register in the Help Center?

Regardless with that, all i`m asking is that there needs to be clarification on this subject. I`m tired of there being different views on something that should be fairly simple. And when it`s appearently a suspendable offence, it *needs* to be specified and cleared up.

If it`s that big a problem, add it specifically to the rules say that noone can say "i didn`t know that"
R Ragnarok
Islander, knowing that is nice and all, but perhaps SOMEONE needs to tell GameAdmin to ignore PMs whenever someone asks a question about GC. It`s not players responsibility to know which staff to listen to and which ones to ignore.

Quaint, a former admin, was regarded the same way by staff (gee I wonder why he left) and he said something was ok to a player when it wasn`t. So the player did it, and many many months later temporarily got suspended for it when they were finally "caught".

It needs to be posted somewhere that the only ones qualified to answer authoritatively on rules or rule related matters are Sol and Maraudian. Maybe a sticky forum post or something, saying in big red letters that anything that Sol or Maraudian says is final and all other points of views or interpretations of the rules differing from their own are invalid.
R RipShredder
Islander, thank you acting mature about this.
Islander Admin
Anything GameAdmin says about GC: Ignore it.

MAC, a healthy internet community is much like what you describe, and you can find many examples of this over the internet such as the Linux Community, Digg, and Wikipedia. They are big and successful because they are largely fair, democratic, and people like being in them.

Unfortunately, the GC community is somewhat dysfunctional in that the founder and BDFL (benevolent dictator for life) of this community (Stephen) is not the best about fixing issues with the game or finding creative ways to circumvent common methods of cheating. So staff tries their best to keep things balanced, but sometimes get overzealous and thus cause problems of their own with the ultimate consumer.

Until this changes, GC will forever be a tiny community of hard core players.

i agree with mac .....

planet tading ..... bad for the game in terms of balence... banned
botting.... bad for the game in terms of balence .... banned
mineral trading.... bad for the game in terms of balence.... banned
posting obove the limit in market.... no known negative effect on fairness of the game .... banned

spot the odd one out :D

Sol - The game wouldn`t be in chaos, if the people who actually know the game sat down and looked at the rules, they would agree what we have now works and is good for the game. All i`m saying is I think those same people would agree that posting more than 9,999,999 minerals at a time doesn`t harm the game, nor does it give an unfair advantage to anyone.

And don`t be so quick to jump on your high staff horse, don`t you think the people who govern should be democratic in their rulings? To be honest I think roles like what Maru has (although I think he does a great job and I would `vote` for him) should be more democratically assigned, rather than apointed.

bip - Yes the rule is in place `cus of that, but what i`m saying is I don`t think anyone would agree it`s a bad thing.
R Ragnarok
With that said, I think that even if one staff says it`s ok, if another says don`t do it then you shouldn`t do it because both have the power to suspend your account for any reason or absolutely no reason at all. They could suspend your account for no real reason, give a BS reason for it, and it`d be 2 weeks or more before it got sorted out if at all.
R Ragnarok
Correct me if I`m wrong but I thought GameAdmin is a paid employee of Stephen. If so, wouldn`t that put GameAdmin above Sol and Maraudian (who I believe are doing what they do for free for love of the game)? What are players to do when you have two staff members give contrary rulings? It`s happened before, and it resulted in unfortunate incidents. This sort of thing is bad for business you know.
Islander Admin
RipShredder. You are a bleeding moron.
GameAdmin also fits under that category, go be friends with each other.
GC`ers DON`T WANT HIM MESSING WITH OUR GAME.
He knows nothing about it and we are content to let the UC`ers be afraid of him, you need something sorted out on GC, talk to GC STAFF. The highest ranking of which are Sol and Maraudian.
B bipbippy
actually, the planet transferring rule is in place because Lothor didn`t want people to be able to trade colonies after a certain fed was abusing the ability to "transfer planets".

And what makes you think that a majority of the people in this game WANT the ability to post over the max limit of minerals? I`m perfectly content to post my limit of 9,999,999 at a time.
R RipShredder
Sol, i notice that you are not responding to my post but instead replying directly to Mac`s post...
S Sol
If the majority of the people decided the rules then im sure most forms of cheating would be acceptable and the game would be in chaos.

staff are put in control for a reason.
M Macbeth
Sol this is the point to be raised...

Why should it be illegal if the vast majority of people on this game actually don`t want it to be?

This is like how not-smart laws don`t get passed in Parliament, `cus if it`s not wanted by the people it shouldn`t be imposed on them. Such as Planet Trading, that rule is in place because 99% of people on the game don`t want others to be able to trade colonies.

In my opinion I think this "rule" (even though it is stated no where) should be lifted. And I think most people would agree.
R RipShredder
Well, as i said, i once asked GameAdmin. Directly asked him about the legality of posting above the limit and why the limit was there in the first place as no information about it is to find anywhere. the answer was that the limit had been put there as they had sometimes experienced erratic behaviour where the seller would not get money from the units posted that exceeded the max amount, it was not an exploit, cheat or otherwise illegal action to post above the limit.

If you still disagree with me, ask him yourself or better yet, get him to comment in this thread.
