Smaller empires don`t have to worry about goods really but buying goods is a pure profit. When you get larger and have more planets this profit will be more substantial. Not much in relation to the income you`ll be making from your commercial or agriculture, but more money is never a bad thing!

if your income is based on taxes like terrans take a look at your income screenat the bottom their is 2 typs of income, with goods and with out you make alot more with goods when bought from the market but you must pace your income dont always put everything you have in goods, try to average about ten percent of your current money on hand at a time

No, it`s ok if you`re a terran.

Goods are sold to your population, unless you are making money through taxes (terrans should not do this, commercial and agriculture are way easier), you don`t need to bother about goods.

Miners sell goods on the market to make money, but you`re not a miner.
