I completed act 1 as aspha miners and it said if i do not wish to become a paid account i can still do the "special missions" but i have not been able to find reference to them anywhere.

In terms of Special Missions, there is only one, the Ultimate Weapon Mission or Bounty`s when they come up. For Example a Christmas time bounty etc.
