Banner bug

I have noticed a strange bug over the past few weeks. I would just be hitting the research button, and all of a sudden a banner would come up saying this:

"Stephen: Ok all servers has been reset`ed. Sorry it took sometime, somehow microsoft decided to push for a 11 security patch today, plus all our security software needs patching as well... must be something really major"

If I remember correctly, this is a really old banner..
once I refresh, or go to a new page, the banner is gone. It happens every hour or so.
also, i have cleared cookies/cache and it still happens, so it`s a server side problem. happens on both Firefox and IE.

does anyone else get this?

and the Banner for the server refresh warning is also gone and never appears anymore. I think this is related

just pointing it out

lol i like a the idea of a randomly flashing up banner, a thought of the day ..

if that were true though that it prevented some people botting, you`d probably see a dramatic increase of people logging in prior to the refresh and again after it, ones that normally wouldn`t be awake at those times.

if the banner was constant, they could probably set their bots around it :P im for the random one, though that could probably be worked around too with a little tweaking :P

Maru I have to admit the random banner is alittle bit annoying, I mean can`t the daily server refreshes, random server refreshes (which we sometimes have to put up with) and PMs be used to catch people botting?

tbh with all the bots ive been catching recently im amazed there hasnt been a single thread turning everyone against me for a passtime...

well as macbeth points out it is a usefull low tech anti bot.

but that aside its basicly due to the fact all we need to do to make a banner is type in a text box and type a date it apears / expires , if we dont delete the text after it expires it will just randomly pop up in a rare page load , noticed it myself and have no real objection to it , for the exact reason macbeth pointed out , if everyones low tech bot screws up from a random banner , all those botters will log out at the exact same time , your pretty much caught red handed and instantly blacklisted if i bother to check that

um? what does a Banner bug have anything to do with botting? o_O

anyways, I guess I`m not the only one.. an admin should check it out, cause it`s kind of weird. and I also miss the Refresh Warning thing ;p
