Guards are excellent in the energy area according to the race description, but non of their weapons is pure energy based. Most comes with kinetic and the L class missiles. just feeling a bit weird why they don`t have any energy weapons when they are so good at it. And why the weapons are kinetic based. Something that doesn`t fit the story too well.

Maybe guards are just better -_- they realized energy weapons sucked and made rubys instead

Simple: ask yourself who is guards arch nemesis? maraduers.. most maru ships got sucky kinetic and good energy shields? therefore logical to make ur weapons to act on weakneses of your enemiss ect......lol

For 1 thing, I`m not asking for new ships to be designed with energy weapons. Please do not read too much into my words. As Pansy said, it may be because they are so good in energy defence that they think everybody else is as good as them lol.
Jenova: I donno what that means but nobody like to be called a newbie.
Deiloche: Just gather all the ships and go attack each other aggressively only to find out nobody lost a single ship, isn`t that fun?

If it was more in their fleet, guards would be completely useless against each other. :P

Really, its one thing to engineer your fleet to resist a particular weapon, an entirely differerent thing to decide to make use of that weapon yourself. Granted, if they consider that damage type such a threat you might expect that it would be more prevalent in their fleet. *shrug

I`m not sure its an issue though as there are a few Guard ships with energy as a substantial portion of weaponry, most notably the Corundum as Perseus mentioned.

Perhaps the damage type is inferior? Guardians make do quite nicely with kinetic weaponry.

They do have energy weapons . Look at the corundum.

If their forte is barrier, why not energy? They have to study how weapon works before the barriers can counter them.

He rather rendered your question irrelevant. Energy shielding is their forte, not weaponry.

They have good energy armor, then why not weapon too? You didn`t answer the question at all based on that copy-and-paste quote

The Guardians being composed of energy do not consume food. They however excel in the field of energy research producing one of the best energy shields in the known galaxy. This advantage makes most energy-based weapons ineffective against them.
