That`s right, and if you are still desperate, you can plunder some planets, but DON`T DO THAT until you`re totally desperate AND have worked out how to get the maximum benefit from it. Often if you`re that bad into debt, it`s better to restart.

So the thing to remember for the future is, don`t do your research with ships standing around... it`s usually OK to disband them then build them over again than pay for them for 100+ turns.

But disbaning your fleet and selling minerals should take care of it. You might have to crash the market (sell at much lower prices), which won`t make you rich, but they`ll sell, and you`ll at least be solvent again.

that is becuase debt interest increases when your debt (total negative money) gets bigger
so stop spending turns, sell stuff, if you Income is then positive, begin reaserching and building commerce
otherwise you will have to start over, and know that if you spend turns will in debt it will just make it worse

(make sure you disband fleet, and that your population has food, etc etc.)

Negative income is usually caused by having ships with upkeep higher then your income, if you spend all your reserved cash you will go into negative, which results in paying an interest on that negative income or debt. When the debt \ interest amount exceeds your regular income you cannot get out of debt by spending turns or researching anything at all.

So stop spending turns.

Sell anything and everything you have on the market and hope it exceeds the amount of money that you are negative to get rid of the debt \ interested.

Thus you can spend turns and start making money again and replace your market resources in due time.
