Now you can build Scouts (since they`re not aggressive ships, they won`t bring you of you DP, if you build attacking ships like T.ryu jin you will get out of DP) and explore planets without fear. After you explore 5 planets, go to the "Projects" page, then "Colony upgrade", then "Colony Cluster level 1". Then it will show your normal planets ID`s that are nearer to your homeword, select one preferrably with Terran Metal and click "Confirm". Now those 5 planets are only into one colony!

Go to Manage Colonies, choose your brand new Cluster level 1 (C1), build the max ammount of Mining on your planet you can, now you will start getting ore from that planet with every turn you use (note that it stops after the ore on that planet ends, to see how much ore it got open your`s planet page and check the "Available ore" line on the first column). Now you can disband your Viators so you won`t lose money from their upkeep, and go to the Research page and start researching the Technology tree (this enables you to build new and better ships later). After the ore on your C1 ends, if you have more than 2000 ore you can go to the market and sell your ore for 10000 a piece!

Now you can plunder your C1 and repeat the process, that is called "strip mining". After you get like 500 millions money doing that, you can start exploring for good planets with high land, cluster them and build agriculture. Also research agriculture infra.

Have fun

Maybe you should read the manual first...

Making money differs from race to race. Supposing you are a terran I`d suggest that you produce food. It is much better than commercial because almost always you can get more money after you sell the food you produced on the market than if you spent your time with the same setup on commercial, even if food is down to around 5$.

Go to Manage Colonies, open your planet`s page. If you have some Ore (you can see if you have any under the Empire Information column or in the Market menu), on your planet you build 50 housing total and the rest agriculture, so you will start producing food with every turn you use. Now go research Agriculture infrastructure levels in the "research" page.

When you`re getting low on money, go and sell your food on the market for 1$ lower than the current food price, then wait for someone to buy your food. Repeat until you have like 5-10 millions money.

After that, research Colony Cluster 1 in Research page. Now you will be able to cluster 5 normal planets into 1, excluding your homeword. Build some Viator scouts (at least 250 of them) in the Build Ships page, then go to the Explore page. Explore some planets until you get out of the newbie protection (under 5000 power). After that, wait until someone attacks you so you get into Damage Protection for 24 hours.

Don`t listen to people that say that commercial is better than agriculture, I got some text I wrote about making money as terran, lemme fetch it.

If you ar new ant terran I highly recommend you put some of your planets into commercial. Put a bunch of land and build a bunch of commercial buildings and then research some commercial infrastructure to get even more income.

credits can be obtained by spending turns if you have a positive income(which you can view by clicking "income" on the top left corner of the command screen.
commercial with no modifiers (no reaserch nor racial modifiers) makes 5$ per 1 turn
industry makes goods which is then sold you your pop for 5$ per unit, and your people consume goods at a given rate determined by your racial modifiers, listed in the manual.
and also you get tax from population each turn, that increases with loyalty (and depends on your racial mod)

so there are tons of ways to get credits
