I think anyone interested in figures though will enjoy teh alexa site statistics, since that appears to be for both uc and gc combined.

anyone can find them everyone has access to statistics like that on the net if you google the right things.

OK my post below was edited, i know this because i kept a copy of it, and will do so again this time with a screenshot.

I only ever see UC adverts when I am online, I have not seen a GC advert, and when the `ex staff member` that was paid on UC to promote the games he only ever promoted UC not GC.

I`d add that until the owner gets online and has GC promoted then no matter how hard players work to get new members it will all be for naught.

I found a post on a site the other day that says in 2006 GC hit 2 million members, I`m assuming that figure was inactive as well as active, and a running total as well.

Oh, and max PR should be smaller... a lot. Like 200-300 mil PR. Max infra =101. That way fighting should be encouraged, not clicking(and botting). Add that to maraudian`s UW idea and people will try way more UWs = way more fun for everybody. Make some kind of a cap for SB spamming in DP. Do something against botting(or make botting legal, at least it will be equal ground then). A lot of things can be done.

So far the only person I agree with is Drunkenmasters. From 30 hours before this post.

and the only other thing i agree with is more advertising. UC gets promoted through the advertising media guy on UC and nothing either since he left.

yeah something epic, for real. This game is cool cause there is nothing else like it. I mean before i played i thought how could anything be fun without graphics. But did anyone else ever play thos old DOS games:

This is probably the most ghetto game on the internet. It will never grow without massive updating.

well of course there`s new players all the time....but that number is far from being as large as it could have been, and all of what i said is the culmination of hearing the same complaints for 3+ years then when something does happen people are never happy with it. all they want is more, they can never be satisfied. as for people staying or comming back..yes i do believe changes will be benifical but not without a cost. i`ve known people who quit because it was changed or came back and decided not to play any more just because it was different.

Shattered, I can`t agree with you. There are different goals for different people in the game - like some people want max ore for instance. If that gives them fun, ok. I usually play a game to win it. And I am already on the winners list. I have done almost everything in this game - won a DM, completed all missions, UW. Hoarding collective, collective UW, hoarding marauder. Can`t think of many more challenges for me(maybe a few more UWs but that take time). I am bored at the current state. But IF missions are implemented for instance, that will give me new reason to play. For now I just play because it`s habbit, nothing else. I woke up, turn on the PC and use my turns. I use my turns and go to bed. But that won`t last much longer.

the thing is there ARE new players all the time. they jut decide they do not like the game. On top of that we have a lot of old players that are just bored and sick of the game and the lack of attention it gets.
An update shows somebody in charge actually cares.
An update can give the game more of an edge, it really is starting to look old and makeshift, but the general idea is great and has a lot of potential!!
There should always be room for improvement, but it sucks that there is so much room but no more improvement!

New players will like the game more and people like DMM with play again because it is even more fun. We need to take what IS better about GC than UC and emphasize the crab outta those aspects.

i honestly don`t see why people care so much about any updates...i was happy with the game before any ship mods. then ship mods came...i kept smiled and waved and learn new stats/ships...and still yet no one is ever happy with anything so why continue to change it...any thing new would just give people something new to whine about..

.so long as my epidote has the same basic stats, aside from upkeep which i could care less about anyhow..as some other guys epidote and so long as the battle system works the same for me as it does for everyone else..then i could really care less in the end.

if you want something new and flashy...find a new game...if you want something like this but different then turn your comp screen upside down or adjust the brightness or contrast. if you think the game is not fair then you`re probably right...everyone knows there`s a conspiracy against you...or the race you are.

besides the point....updates aren`t going to bring people to the game...it might make the ones still around stay or become more active...but it will not bring new people in. you need ads for that. or a computer virus that makes everyones homepage become GC for a week then it becomes null and goes away.

on the subject ideas...i think some of the ones posted here would peak some peoples interest in the game. personally i just wished the /me command worked on the chat a forum again

I like the game the way it is and I even like how few people play it. I hated it when GC was overrun with n00bs.

To be honest I have fun just the way the game is, I just wish more played the game, not sure adding a few little features will change much at all, lol.

Heh, Just taking away the maru upkeep won`t solve the viral problem, drop there ships to only 2 from each race, or better yet take them out all together...maybe add in a new race that people can`t complain about..IMO Viral isnt overpowered, I`d rate them third best in terms of stacking..But any n00b who gets beat by a viral spam is going to complain, hence the problems =/

But like I said, even 2:1 upkeep/pr on pyth/angel won`t solve the problem. Bit more would need to be done
