Fun Idea?

I had an idea that might bring some fun to the game. Kinda like a lot of work places do with Employees of the Month and Employees of the Year. I thought it would be fun to do a "Player of the Month" and then maybe even a "Player of the Year". We could set up 1 [G] or [A] who wants to run it and then at the end of each month, players could PM their vote to the designated G/A. Rules would have to be like #1) you can`t vote for yourself. #2) only one vote per player (no matter how many servers you play on). The winner each month could get a free month paid on the server of their choice (or something).

Then for player of the year - at the end of the year, a list would be made of all the monthly winners, and players would vote for one of them to be player of the year. They could win a free year or maybe a free 3 month gold pack or something. Could probably give them a choice of prizes or something.

This could also be expanded to "Rookie of the Year" (month too if we wanted). This would have to be someone who signed up their account in that year (or month). So like Rookie of the Year for 2008 would have to have an `08 account. If we did Rookie of the Month, it would be like March winner = someone who has a March `08 account. Rookie winners could have similar prizes as Player of the Month/Year prizes.

Has it been half a year? I am impressed! I didn`t know you had it in you to go that long without VM. Of course, I suppose the fact that you only play normal helps. I simply never notice whether you are in VM or not on normal.

An interesting idea... but what are the parameters for determining who deserves it? Is this specific to RT? If done by popular vote, it is just a popularity contest... an incredibly poor way of awarding somebody. Perhaps if there was a designated panel of neutral "veteran" players who would go over the data and determine who is worthy of the prize.

Also, once a month is way too often for a prize of a month.

well bip thats entirely up to you , as for me , theres only been two people i trust completely one is myself the other ` was ` my best friend , since i stopped trusting him ive stopped trusting as a whole

like i say anyone is capable of hosting and running this idea so its all down to who all of you trust to count them fairly and who`s kind enough to donate paids/artifacts? to this idea

for example if i ever went back to digging , ide donate 5-10 artifacts a month , and if everyone else who wanted to did , your looking at like 100 gordo or more to the winner ?

Ok, we can`t use a fake account without someone monitoring their inbox. I think a bot that the admins could log into but couldn`t tinker with would be good.

Hmm I thought of a problem with having a player keeping track of the votes though. For example, if I kept track - how would I know for sure that someone isn`t voting more than once. If we made a rule only one vote per person, but I might not know who someone is if their name on each server is different.

Maybe we could just make it so that each person gets one vote per server. So then basically each person would get up to 5 votes. It would end up being more votes, but would be simpler to track without having access to the admin ability to check who owns what accounts.

yeah I thought about that RipVanWingnut, but I think people might be more honest with their vote if other people can`t see who they`re voting for. Otherwise it would end up just being a popularity contest.

Mara - if you want I can just make a fake empire and I can keep tabs on the votes. It`s not like I`ll ever win a month anyway :P

If we really want to do this and it goes well, maybe I can see about setting up a webpage somewhere. But to start with we can just post results in the forum and stuff.

Yeah, as long as the prizes aren`t too ridiculous I dont have a problem forking over a couple paids a month for free, admin compensation would be nice but its not a big deal if mara wont =P

well you can all pm moop the player of the month and he can give that player a paid , what you do in pms and with your paids is up to you ^^

or i can just make a pointless empire for you all to pm the name of whoever and display the results once a month and whoever can do whatever with those results :-/

but yes i dont think ide enjoy my main account having this kind of pm attention
