I was trying to work out how hard it would be to explore for planets when you have a few hundred planets...

I want the formula for exploration points required to discover a new planet...

Once i have the formula for exploration points required to discover a new planet, i can do my own maths :P...
Just need to know what the formula is..............

Thanks Galactic}{Killer

The first planet requires 5,000 Exploration points. Every planet after that needs 20% more than the one before. So in and excel spreadsheet put 5,000 in cell A1 in cell B1 enter this formula: =A1*1.2 Drag fill that down. For 100 planets you need only go to row 100 and see that it takes 345,074,893,842 Exploration Points. For 500 it takes 16,233,485,674,615,900,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000.

if memory serves

e=mc^2

I can`t find the thing and I don`t have time now, but you need to have a formula, and then you can do curve fitting to estimate the parameters. It`s exponential so I used Ae^b*(planets)
Put it all in excel and bingo!
Hope this helps.

Just do like Bobbyindustrialpat and use a program in which you can fill in known values and then you can get an estimate of the formula by interpolation.

It wouldn`t be impossible, it would just take a very long time LOL
I still want the forumla, http://gc.gamestotal.com/i.cfm?f=com_explore_cal
lol (i suck at maths)

and on a side note, I have borders on normal and i have 6 pcc`s anyway LOL

bobby, he has 500 planets lol. Well maybe in 2200 you will be able to explore one planet or something.

explore, after 80 i wouldn`t bother because omg what a boring time.

I did a curve fit to the data in the table a while ago when I forgot my dp ended in rt. It is indeed exponential. I think I had 154 planets (2 viral c4s a c2 and a border) and I remember it took me about 12 hours worth of turns (paid) - I don`t remember how many scouts but I spent 40bil plus whatever I got from turns so if your qn is rhetorical then yes it`s possible, but if you want to do it normal......

/me takes out a big pyth spam and starts sharpening

It would be impossible to explore with that many planets as you can see the points needed to explore increase exponentially.

On another note: need borders on normal? :P
