It appears that because a "select" few are concerned about the current resource rich nature of RT, that the game requires a reset through the UW. The NPC empire of Asmodai that has been created in order to do this (supposedly Terran), has access to every races ship type, and presumably unlimited minerals, credits and turns.
I saw a recent successful UW in Fast, by Flaming Snowman with support from his Fed, which was a lot of fun - we all had a chance of stopping him, but they played well. Unlike this Asmodai UW - it`s just over the top!!!
If the powers-that-be believe there should be a reset in RT, just explain why to the players, and do it - don`t go through the frustrating pretext of an artificially created UW to insult your players intelligence. And it is the players that make this game, both through their financial support and just being involved.
To quote an old proverb "Don`t kill the goose that lays the Golden Orb"...
