i was told i should get this ship when i research the cruiser but atm im researching the d battleship and still no sting was it removed?

No as far I know the Sting has not been removed, I think you havn`t researched it yet, maybe you were mistaken about which research gives which ships... Keep researching you should get it, check the research tree in the manual for more info...
