The only way you could go about a purchase, whilst keeping a sane amount of currency to be involved. Would be to get the actual figures. Cost of upkeep, revenue received. Profit/loss margins, etc. Then, you would have to receive an actual asking price from Stephen. And work towards a deal, keeping in mind the factors already mentioned.
To be honest, if the game, after upkeep costs, nets $10k a year. And the current owner is asking for $500k. It would simply be a bad decision to to take on the lump of $hit. You would never make up your investment. Nor would you ever pull even.
Just clone the Game, if you want to do things economically.
