well, i am not exactly sure, maybe you read your income wrong, perhaps you are making 5k.. but you didnt scroll down and look at your expenditures which seems to be -10k and then below that you get the total which is -5k
if that is the case, check what you money is being spent on, if it is your fleet, you need to disband all your ships, you shoulod never keep ships on you unless you are going to use them soon, or wont spend turns while you have them. becuase upkeep on the ships is just way too much, especcially for a new empire, to maintain.

but if the case is your total income says +5000$, and when you spend turns you lose 5k, then i t could be a bug.

I`ll assume that you are in debt, if that is the case

in debt

1. Stop using turns
   
2. Disband all fleet
   
3. Sell items on market
   
4. Check important events to tell if things are sold
   
5. When they sell log out and back in

Reasons

1. Using turns will ensure you keep increasing your debt through both upkeep on ships and debt interest
   
   
2. As above stated ships require upkeep per turn, watch your future spending by clicking on income and seeing where you spend.
   
   
3. Sell enough items to bring you cash up above

4. This is so you don`t need to use turns you can refresh you events page to keep a eye on items being sold, can also click on important events and click on refresh (f5) for this
   
   
5. The logging in and out will refresh you figures correctly.
