Besides getting a paid account and using a better race, here are some basics:
1. Get bigger planets(800+) and cluster them!! Plunder the small ones(8(under 800).

2. Before you plunder the small ones, mine all the ore off any planet that has more than 300 ore.

3. Stick to ONE infrastructure research. Mixing and matching usually doesn`t work unless you know what you are doing!!!!

4. Contrary to number 3, it`s good to put up to but no more than 8 in housing to limit housing infra on your huge planets and use more planet land on the money-making infrastructure (commercial, industry, agri).

5. Only put enough housing to provide just enough labor to use all the land on the planet, don`t put more than needed!!

6. Keep borders to protect your big ol planets!

7. Research, research, research. Midnight piss? Get online and research some turns. Break from hw? Research every chance you get!! You can`t go wrong with researching!!!

8. Get addicted, shove one big ol space rock into your crack pipe and smoke it. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.
