I quite like the idea of playing the market :)
Its alot easier i find at earning money (if your disciplined enough) especially for races like Guardian with low pr turn income.

depends on race some are better at mining than others some are worse at commercial than others

go up on your infastructure research , check your race in the manuel to see what you should consentrate on [ commerical , tax , etc.
no lords in gc just slavers who get 15% of your posative income that might sen some miner reenforcements if your lucky , and to get free of a master you would need 10 x his pr and declare independence in slave empires.
