also, for maximum effectiveness, do hit on aggressive (if you`re doing newbie spams) and obviously use ships with higher range.
in considering which ship you want to use, here are a few factors you should bear in mind,
build rate & weapon damage
shield modifiers
for example, building f.bswords to hit pyth VS building m.lyth, i would choose m.lyth over f.bswords because of a better weapon output per turn.
