dont really worry about you can always restart
if you`re like negative 500,000 and you`re a new player i think the best possible solution is restart if you are not too deep in debt then sell everything,minerals and food, disband all your ships
ya do this take all ur ships out disband them dont use turns and sell al ur minerals till teh interest is off once the interest is off u will have a positive income will subtract teh money u owe so then if this doesnt work then u have to restart
