I need a program that will let me make 3d models......

I`ve been scouring the internet for a decent spacecraft design, but they are all startrek knockoffs or just not my style....

I want to try and create something original.......

I also have a few raw ship models (not textured yet or anyting) kicking around my hard drive. If you want them, let me know and I`ll see if I can hunt them down.

One word: gmax. It`s the free version of the 3dMax software, and it is fantastic. Unfortunately, I`m not sure wether it`s available anymore.

They have a MASSIVE modding community, if someone there can find you one, no one can.

those are a few that i`ve been playing with when i`ve time, not for ship modelling, just for artwork i do, but they`re all interesting to a point and have similar and different features

Look man. I dont know who you think you are. But yes, I got blender, and yes I am "attempting" to use it.

As far as a not-smart question, I dont believe it is. And I was coming back to this thread to thank you for putting blender up, but seeing as how I apparently didnt do it good enough for your tastes, you can forget it.

Get on basic or C++ and spend a few months making your own!! BWAHAHA!
(I made a pretty cool thing on basic where I could rotate cubes and triangles a few years ago)

Blender or wings is the best freeware. Then u could get the big boys like 3ds max, maya, lightwave, XSI and stuff but they cost bucks.

check out the forums on DeviantArt, lots of 3d artwork there. Mostly photo related, but they may reference what you are looking for.

you could try a 3D CAD program, but they are expensive
