Hey, KingHippie, I challenge you to a 1v1. I`ll be zerg. And I`ll utterly anihalate you.
As for all the other conversation... broodwar is almost perfectly balanced. Zerg have a slight disadvantage to protoss, protoss have a slight disadvantage to terran, and terran have a slight disadvantage to zerg. Very slight in most of these cases. Of course, I`m assuming you actually play starcraft, not moneycraft (AKA fastest or BGH or similar maps.) Moneycraft, protoss own. But who cares about moneycraft, there`s no point to playing the game if it`s money. Starcraft is about maps like lost temple. Additionally... when I mentioned the slight advantages of every race, I was referring to skilled players using them who actually KNOW the capabilities of every unit.
For new players... hands down, protoss is by far the easiest race to use. You don`t really need a lot of diversity with protoss to do alright, zealots and dragoons can roll over mostly anything.
Terran take a LOT of clicking, but they are still a lot easier to use than zerg (unless you`re me, I`m worthless with terran. I prefer zerg.) Tanks and battlecruisers are each the best at what they do, bunkers make for a mobile, high powered defence, buildings can be moved around both to scout and move your primary base... and, of course, the second most rigged unit in the game, medics. Medics are evil.
Zerg... zerg do take skill. They require a good mix of units. Though zerg en masse is still evil, it`s a lot harder to get to that point. Ever try fighting 60 hydralisks and 100 cracklings (fully upgraded zerglings) on lost temple? Hell, ever try fighting them on moneycraft? Say goodbye, your rear end is now wide enough that it`s part of your mouth.
The biggest mistake people make on starcraft is thinking that the more tech required to get a ship, the more important it is. Using pure carriers is like pure hercs on GC: You are going to die, painfully and horribly.
