And again, we`re not saying that research needs to stop, just that we`re working backwards... again, why would we be placing priority or focus on saving a limb or just your thumb (industrilaized nations) because your other fingers (3rd world countries) aren`t as important when the whole body is in danger... just d.umb in my opinion!

Did you know that during the past couple of decades the polar ice caps have significantly decreased... i`m not gonna give you numbers or percentages, mainly bcuz i don`t know the actual statistics, however, i`ll do something better... you know what wildlife experts have been finding, drowned polar bears! That is a perfect sign that this is not natural! Do you know how long a polar bear can swim for? Me either but i know it`s a lot!!! but wildlife experts have been finding more and more drowned polar bears due to the decrease in sea ice that these polar bears depend on! Do you see the HUGE significance of that?

The only thing i`m saying is that alternative fuels already exist! Did you know that in the late 1990`s there was a guy who drove a car from N.Y to Cali in a car powered by hemp fuel? Did you know that hemp as a textile is the best both in endurance and for the world as it`s eco friendly! Why do you think these things aren`t in place! Bcuz of the huge companies that stand to go bankrupt if these alternative resources come out! What this world needs is a whole "global consciousness shift"! Life is not about the accumation of material things...

As far as your communist remarks... Communism is the best form of goverment down on paper... read that again and make sure you guys don`t misunderstand... I didn`t say the examples of communism that we have had in the world are good, i said "communism down on paper" is the best form of government bcuz it does promote equality between the haves and the have-nots. The reason it has not worked in actual "practice" is becasue until there is the "global consciousness shift" i referred to earlier there will always be corrupt people taking advantage. And guess how this consciousness shift will take place... one person at a time... speak out against the injustices! I myself am part of a couple of activist groups and donate to charity whenever i can! If the old forum was still around i would bring up the thread i made to get the word out about The One Campaign, it touches on your subject about 3rd world countries paying off the debts they owe...

We need people to speak out and pressure our goverments and show them that the way the world is heading is not okay! It`s not okay to let countless numbers of people die simply becasue we can make more money somewhere else or it`s "inconvenient" for us to help! Government should not run the people, The people should run the government!!! But you see a lot of people don`t like to think! They`ve been bred to be sheep! Speak out about the injustices you see! Don`t just follow the flock!

No I am not saying that we should force them to stop. By all means, If some guys passion is stem cell reasearch, then let him have it!

My point is that we should do just that. Let THEM have it. And lets put our thought into helping other issues. Let that guy deal with stemcells, the way he wants, and sure, the reasearch will slow down a bit, but it will still be getting done. Meanwhile, the most important things are being attended to. Then, once they are complete, then we put our efforts into helping said guy do stem cell reasearch and other stuff.

infact the bad people are us, we are rich, we spend time playing this game, we have flyers going around, we have people driving cryslers and hummers and porsches instead of cheaper cars like toyatas and hondas which aswell emit less gas, we are the ones spending time infront of tvs, we are the ones buying colored clothes, we are the ones living rich because of countries like africa living poor, our governments pump out resources from those countries, our countries were / some are still earning interest on their debts though the countries cant pay for the interest alone not counting the price, we are the ones who live of others misery, if you really believe to make a change so everyone is treated with good even opportunities and not rich people with lotsa stuff and poor people with barely enough to survive, then that system of government is called communism, or if anything close to it could be called communism, cause under capitalism the poor can get nothing while the rich can get all, and unless you tell me you`re willing to go communist to help out everyone in general then don`t say to me "cuz you know we can`t live w/out McDonalds, right? Or at least us few lucky ones that were born in countries that have McDonalds...",, i dont eat mcdonalds infact i had a job where i worked 10 hours on a weekend, i don`t buy those luxuries infact i was against my parents getting a 2nd dvd player (comeon who needs one let alone 2), and if we didn`t have mcdonalds and were communist we`d have the money that people have from those large companies who have 20 porshes used to build a farm to supply a poor neighborhood

aswell as better issues how to make better for the earth as a whole thats good but shouldn`t be our main focus...lets give a story

there was a smart mathematician guy, he came up with formulas and people were like where do we use em ?
then 50 years later after he died there was no use for em at the time but then it was used

other sciences which might be like stemcells or other less important ones focusing on individual aspects of these earth limbs migt actually lead to a way, even IF they`re not directly related now in the future they might help save dying out animal species or make plants which produce a chemical to be used in powering cars and other vehicles

now you are like monopolist business men, they concentrate on delivering a product good and cheaply, they don`t care about putting research into other things since who needs to if you can make more money this way (not implying you`re making money of this but you`re focusing on just one thing)

now continueing finding cures and other stuff like that to save a branch on the tree aren`t directly related to saving the earth as a whole unlike getting hybrid cars using buses
but infact medicine is like building schools in a poor neighbourhood, sure you could give em money to buy lunch instead of buying wood for the school but best idea is to do both :)
same here you could just give basic medicine to people, or you could just have hospitals, but current society tries to enable for those dying from starvation aswell as help out others, and you may never know...maybe the guy saved from these medicine cures will be the one to find solutions to global issues, but i think building up all the small things leading to the global issue is better then jsut going to tackle the whole body,

i know you didn`t imply that hippy about hospitals, but what else do you suggest, close down most further research in medical developments or what?

oceans yea i know they are polluted and i aggree we need alternative fuels but sciences like stemcells and others which don`t involve saving the earth might actually stumble across alternative fuels which are more eco friendly and easier to produce then current ones

rising temperature yea temperature is rising....but its naturally meant to anyways but we could stop it, but we`re not majorly to blame but yea that sucks especially if you live there :S

and do you honestly believe that this over population is not taking it`s toll on Earth? Do you serioulsy not see the major changes in the weather? I know when i was younger it was never this hot in December here in L.A. was it winter as it`s know everywhere else, no! but i can assure you that it wasnt 76-85 degrees, i repeat in DECEMBER! There have been numerous studies and proof provided that the heat has been slowly rising year after year, i mean just look at the heat wave that killed countless of people in Europe a few years ago in 2003 if i remember correctly... but yeah, you`re right... we humans have nothing to do with that, right? Hmm... think of it this way... think of the Earth as a living and breathing organism such as a human... people are sitting here arguing how to save a limb (human kind), due to let`s say gangrene. Why would you be attempting to save a limb when the whole body (Earth), is being killed by let`s say cancer. Would it not be d.umb and ignorant of us to save the limb if we can not save the body?

Will humans ever become totally extinct, probabaly not as we are a pretty resilient species however, society as we know it, the metropolis` we take so much pride in will! There might be little pockets of humans between here and there but nothing on the scale we currently have... i mean seriously people we are putting great strain on the Earth... i mean we`re running out of space to place all these people on... look at the project Japan is working on in Tokyo Bay because there`s simply no more room to house all their people on... if you guys are unaware of the project i`m talking about it`s called "The Shimizu Mega-City Pyramid"... that alone in itself says the scale in which the earth is over populated by humans.

besides, every cure we`ve found for a disease so far has either backfired, or nature has run its course and designed another disease, we are fighting another loosing battle with it. maybe the earth is trying to tell us somthing?

the stemcells will do the same thing the common cold cure did (which is commonly known as AIDS now btw...) and that is creat another more deadly infectious disease/virus/bacteria, king hippie is right, we need to forget about the cure to what ailes us, and start with the cause of the ailement.
