you can buy them off the market , the only real race the can produce CG well are A miner.
if your not A miner its best just ignoring consumer goods in general and buying a load to boost your income a bit when you have moneys to spare

to check how much you are making go to "manage colonies" and in the top right corner of the box around your colonies, you can check "consumption" and that will give an overview of how much is needed/wanted and how much is being made and where it is being made etc etc
keep in mind you dont have to satisfy your peoples` need for goods
