dp you are quite wrong imo, miners dont have good defencive ships they do however got quite a few that can be used nicely on offence, and if people are not-smart enough to go aggresive on you, then yea sure nice on defence too heh.
i`ve finished the game 3 times as a miner, and i sure didnt do it by defending, but by hunting every darn empire i saw above my base pr and out of dp.

oh forgot

for gods sakes miner can OWN any race.

how do i know this? ive been an offensive miner MANY times, peaked at 297 planets end of last year

a viral is borry spamming? WOW watch out...fodder were the borries will be and there u go...borries are now usless. wow that was hard now wasnt it?

chlor/calcite/cancer/taurus....THESE ships will save ur behind more than nce against any race, i dont care wat ship sats say as ive seen them in action at over 10 mill pr and they do wonders

flysch/agro spams can take out almost anything thrown at u

strafez are ur best friend against anything u cant handle (borries, hercs, nirvs, pyth, watever.) just throw queens and runners in teh stack...hit on aggressive and go home 3 colonies richer.

for a guard dont go defensive on them, build 1k chlorite, 1k calcite, 15 lyth and hit on aggressive with dummies. u will win, unless they are a strafez user then ur screwed but ah well they are getting rarer now a days anyways

epi and chlorite are great OFFENSIVE ships but not great defensive ships. have em in 4th slot or lower in my experiance in a defensive stack or top 4 in an offensive stack depending on what race ur facing. epi DOES do a number on ruby as does chlorite...use this to ur advantage as epi also will kill a strafez user too.

miner is great if u ca manage to get to 10 mill pr and collect counters for a day or 2 and get over 150 planets which means a c3...then u just make heaps of minerals and get richer.

miner is NOT as hard as peoiple think it is, they just dont have the skills needed to actually stack properly 99% of the time and end up using G clbehind, which such. but livid CAN kill borries on careful at 100% pr IIRC though ive never tried it as its too risky, best to just fodder and minimis losses

aminer...great race. they can make 1 mil per turn offa a 50 land c2 with only 20 infra...whats not to love? the ships do kinda suck for offence, but they arent all that bad. chlor is a great ship along with epidote. the answer to bors for miner...in defence, bswords kill bors pretty good, but you never can tell what a viral will hit with. if he uses herc or pyth ur pretty much done for. livids work good for killing bors if u hit on careful with a little higher pr of livid than they have bor. to really be successful as miner, utilize the strafez ships and never counter from anywhere under 3x your targets pr. best option is to fight for 5 days and take no counters, then climb to 100 mil pr and take every counter you see. this way u get 3 cols from each counter and u get a good amount of planets for them too. guard are your pray as miner. chlorite take out k class while epidotes WILL kill rubies on aggressive. the calcite is a good ship to utilize when hitting guard and the flysch/arg should be together about the 4th and 5th stacks. lyth works at the end of your stacks, and lictor(if you use it) should always be in either 9th or 10th stack.

viral are easy aminer are hard because of ships and you said miners cant have it all what about virals RE ships capture ships and v chiron and v borrly hava a high range now thats what i call haveing it all

usually i agree (thats why i play em), however for the game as total the weakness of the miner is a severe problem. For the challenge the hard races are made for like guards and virals (ha ha, good joke), and the easy race of the miner are supposed to dig the minerals the galaxy lives from.... Well the mineral market ion rt s broken, and on ultra it is currrently running dry...

being aspha miner is godd for all the money, you will never be short of it but when you go through the game, you will never be able to get a c3, i lie you can but it is dang near impossible, being an a miner for a short time is quite good but just be aware that if yuou are looking for a lot of money long term, whos gonna produce more money a viral with 700 planets or an aspha miner with 100.

The reason everyone complains about the suposively bad ships from aspha miners, is that they want everything, lots of money and lots of good ships, but that is a bit too much to ask, and a challenge is always good

I realy dont know, what you want to hear, i also got an acceptable winn/loss ratio since i spam my a** of. Nobody denies, that you can be sucessfull with a.miner, however, other it is way easier to get to the same point with other races. GalacticAddict wanted to know how it is to be an a.miner, if he wants to take the challenge, then he has my best wishes, but i dont bulls*** here around telling people how superior a.miner ships are.

well if you want to stack as guard you need to use neutral ships that is just the way it is, having queens can be one of the most effective ships in the game as any race.

Some of the worst beatings ive taken as guard have been from strong a.miners who know how to stack

not only Miner, other race cant even handle Viral easily no matter defensive or offensive beside Guardian. then, some ppl will yell: P class did kill Borelly!!!

yeah, it is true WHEN ur P class was so lucky match on the Borelly not Chiron and other anti missile unit like Hercules

yeah. it is true if u have the time to build ton of P class.

yeah, it true when in offensive and defensive if Viral come with Aggressive n Normal mode but not in Careful mode.

yeah. it is true IF ur Terran have GERAT INCOME PER TURN to support the entire P class UPKEEP.

so, dont just discuss against how to attack / defend a Viral only. in general, Miner ships werent really bad too.

For comparison, M.Chlor has 3 hull per pr-point, the cancer has 3.3, The Chlor has a 15% higher build rate than the Cancer, but makes even less dammage. Great ship. And the Epidote has range 9 (great plus) but makes less dammage, has less hull, less shield and a smaller build rate than the F.Sword. And of course, that a.miner dont dominate the servers with the great epidote, this great ships DONT has no-retail.
So there are even neutral ships out there, which exceed the miner ships you consider as the best defensive ships available. Now lets look at the shields of a Herc/D.Angle.....

As I already sad, if you AS a.miner GET attacked, you are screwed anyway, it does not matter if the attacker is terran, marauder, viral, guard, or collective. However, if you attack, you can easily defeat non-stacking guards and virals...

I`m sorry Species its pretty clear from what your saying you don;t have a clue, Miners have some of the best defense ships in the game, and yes they make little damage because they are DEFENSIVE, hence don;t talk about linguistics ?

Miners do not have a direct answer to borrellies as they DO NOT have Rubies that is a Guard

And Miners problem is not the lack of defensive ships, but offensive ships, yes you may have to rely on counters to win against your opponent, or derivative spams ( e.g Flysch)

There is a linguistic problem: often ships are called `defensive`, when they do not make any dammage. However, for a `defensive` ship in the gameplay sence, one should expect that it can withstand an attack, which requires to have enough hull or shield. A.miner ships have neither good shields nore overwhelming good hull, they just make no dammage....

...it will become very frustrating especially against Virals....
Actually guardians and virals more often rather simple enemies, since due to their good ships, they dont consider stacking necessary....

...However with your money, you can easily rise above opposition for counters...
The problem is the lack of defensive ships, which means, that you usually loose 2+ planets on average if you get attacked. This means to grow entirely from counters requires a very high successrate for counters (to get em, and to execute em)
