The battle for Atbasar Reach is over.
After sustained losses against the Collective offensive, the remaining Aspha Miner and Guardian fleets have withdrawn from the Reach. Their forces have abandoned the Convergence Station, leaving the ancient installation — and everything hidden beneath it — in Collective hands.
For the first time since the ancient war, the path to the assimilation weapon is open.
But what the Collective discovers beneath Atbasar is not simply a weapon.
Buried deep within the Reach lies an enormous dormant network — fragments of the ancient infrastructure once responsible for the Collective`s ability to assimilate and reconstruct the technology of other civilizations. Much of it has decayed beyond recognition, but its central systems remain intact.
The Collective establishes a direct connection.
For several seconds, nothing happens.
Then the entire Reach comes alive.
Systems dormant for centuries begin responding. Ancient fabrication chambers initialize. Lost archives reconnect one after another. Across Collective space, fragments of forgotten machine language begin appearing on military networks.
The knowledge that was lost has not been destroyed.
It has been waiting.
The weapon the Aspha Miners and Guardians fought to keep from them now belongs to the Collective.
And somewhere deep beneath Atbasar, reconstruction begins.
