GC Story line

The beginning of the Terran species
 
Terran species, another name for the human species originated from planet Earth. Various technology progresses were made by this species over time. It is in the Terran species jack-of-all-trades ability to improve on its technology, agriculture, military, economy, social and other aspects of the Terran race. The only not so advantageous side of the Terran race is it`s thirst for war. It has been documented that there were bitter fighting and war throughout the history of the Terrans.
 
Most of the historical journals were destroyed in the many wars along with many advances in technology. Therefore it is unclear when the Terrans actually developed some of these advances. Some of these incredible feats disappeared after the wars.
 
From what historical artifacts found, it can be speculated that there are four stages of the Terran species. One is the Pre-Expansion period, the Expansion Period, the Unification War and lastly the Feudal Empire period. A rough estimate of the timeline involved is as provided below. 
 
 
Year 1000-2000
First ship to the Moon
First space station on Earth`s orbit
 
Year 2000-3000
First space station on Moon`s orbit
First ship to Mars
 
Year 3000-4000
Developed impulse drive
Bases on all planets in the solar system
 
Year 4000-9500
Developed hyperspace drive
Terran started to colonize various planets outside the solar system
Unification War
 
Year 9500-current
Unification War ends and feudal system takes over.
 
The current year as of today is 10,005.


Pre-Expansion Period
 
This can also be classified as the Terran`s golden age, partly due to the rapid developments in technology during this time. Starting from estimated year 1500 to 3000, the Terrans were kept busy with research and development. They have researched and developed ways to travel from one planet to another. They are however still confined to their own solar system. 
 
There were some minor wars but the many Terran governments were able to control much of the conflicts and to restrict them so that these wars did not escalate. However there are various instances of all-out-war but these wars are generally short in nature with a maximum duration of 10 years. These efforts were considered achievements for a race known to kill one another for every other reason. The overall population was generally peaceful. 
 
People were generally very highly educated due to this peaceful period. Commerce as well as the general economy of the Terran species grew. This period was by far the Terran`s richest`. All this wealth helped fuel further research and development. 
 
It is with the development of the hyperspace drive that drove this era to an end. Speculation has is that the hyperspace drive was developed sometime around the year 3000.

Seems like this is pretty specific description of the game. Would be nice to have this available to refer to as the game evolves. Got buried sometime in 2003

Diplomacy
You can form or join federations. A Federation is a group alliance of various empires. This can be done for both offensive and defensive purposes. You can also be a leader to expand the influence of your federation. Together your federation can rule and conquer the galaxy. Enslave other weaker empires or force them to pay tribute to you if you like.

Real-time Messanging
GC supports online chat and instant messaging. Feel free to make friends as well as to coordinate attacks/defense with your friends/allies.

SPACE FEDERATION (GALACTIC CONQUEST) : FEATURES

Galactic Map and Sector Maps
There are 2 maps namely the galactic map and the sector map. The galactic map shows the entire galaxy and the sector map shows various sectors within the galaxy.These sectors will comprise of various empires.Empires which have developed impulse drive engines can move within the sector and can also be detected or seen. Those without such engines will be protected and hidden from the sector map.Impulse drives also enables the empire to build space ships.

Technology & Research
There are various technology areas you can research. Examples are: planetary upgrades, ship types, infrastructure, minerals and others. New options will be available for research (construction/building/upgrading) once you have finished researching certain types of technology or attain certain types of minerals.

Planetary Governor
You act as a governor here and manage your colonies. A colony contains housing, agriculture, commercial, industry and other infrastructures. You can reward your population and sell your mineral reserves for credits. You can also upgrade your planet/colony if you have researched the required technology. The various planet types have their own restrictions and bonuses.

Invading other planets
You can launch attacks and campaigns to invade other planets. There are many types of ships and strategy involved in launching invasions. Planning ahead will definitely increase your chances of winning the attack. You can also control the attitude of your ships during an invasion. Mode of invasion can be cautious, normal or aggressive, again depending on your strategy.

Diplomacy

SPACE FEDERATION (GALACTIC CONQUEST) : THINGS TO EXPECT

Team play
As the name suggests, team work may be easier than playing in single mode. You can either make friends online or play with friends in Space Federation (Galactic Conquest).

Large scale Galactic War
When various teams are at play it is very normal to get involve in large scale open war. This occurs when hundreds of empires wage war among one another. Things can get more interesting; try imagining what happens when hundreds of empires wage war at the same time.

Technological superiority
Technology is no doubt a very important factor in this game. You may discover that a highly technology-advanced empire with a very small armada of ships can easily overtake a large but technology-backward empire.

Various other species
There may be various other alien species out there unknown or known to you. Each will have their own special characteristics, their own special genetic makeup. Once you have reached a certain technological level you can even start playing with your genetic makeup. But be wary with playing around with your species genetic build up. It may improve your entire race or make some drastic unforeseeable change.

Unknown Alien presence
You may discover alien presence in the galaxy. Are they peaceful or otherwise? Are they technologically superior or inferior?What is their origin?

Space abnomilities
There are various space abnormalities out there. There are ways to "move" or teleport your entire empire to another dimension, sector or galaxy. You can even go back or forth in time.

Kal-zul
Kal-zul is an ancient alien species existed eons ago in the galaxy. Although a few historical artifacts of their species were found, little is known about them. This is largely due to the complex language which the Kal-zul use. It is speculated that they were once a power race which ruled the entire galaxy. However the Kal-zul mysteriously disappeared without leaving a trace what actually happened to them.

Marauders
The Marauders is an aggressive alien species that were treated by the Terrans as a slave race during the Expansion period due to their low intelligence and brute strength. According to history the Marauders overpowered a Terran fringe colony and hence managed to escape. They have since been building up small colonies scattered around the galaxy under the noses of the Terrans. This species has relatively rudimentary technology, which results in smaller but more powerful ship types. Terran colonies refuse to bow down to the Marauders and therefore pay less tax.

Dark Marauders
Dark Marauders is speculated to have their origins from the Marauders species. Dark Marauders generally have very special and large powerful fleets.

Viral 106
The Viral 106 species, as its name implies is a virus-like species, which survive solely on new hosts or victims, namely other races. Caused by the outbreak of a mysterious virus that erupted on the outer territories of the Terrans, it quickly evolved through a mysterious process still debated by various scientists all over the galaxy. This species can only multiply when there is a sufficient and steady source of hosts.

The Collective
The Collective is an alien race that assimilates other alien beings into their technology. However they require large amounts of organic material (from other alien races) to survive.

Guardians
The Guardians are beings composed of pure energy. Therefore most of the weapons of the other races are ineffective against them (you can`t use energy weapons like laser against them. Physical attacks/antique projectile guns required). The Guardians lives off energy generated from the known galaxy through the stars, planets and life of the people. Therefore the larger the galaxy, the more powerful the guardians are. However they are greatly weakened when planets are destroyed (for mining, plunder and other purposes).

Different races and species
There are various alien species available for as your choice species to play in this game. Some special alien species can only be chosen later in the game either by evolution or when you attain some technological advancement. How this is actually done will be kept a secret and is for you to discover.

There are generally two sides to an alien species. One is for the growth of the Universe, the other lives off the Universe (slowly destroying it). All species are different in terms of restrictions; attack style, economics and military specifications (ie ship types). GC is designed in a way that all species will depend on living off one another. For example, the Marauders, Viral and Collective depend on pillaging, infecting or assimilating with the Terran colonies whereas the Guardian depends on the Terran`s existence.

Fight for survival!


Terran
The Terran is a race motivated by the arts like history and culture, as seen by the naming of their ships. They are frequently inspired by culture, historical and traditional events. The Terran is also a curious race, with interest in exploration which fuels ultimately created the Expansion Period of the Terran. As a result of their short lifespan, their rush towards progress gives them an edge over the other races in terms of colony management, exploration and research.

Aspha Miners
The Aspha Miners is a peaceful race whom originates from the Aspha system in the Orion galaxy. Their experts in mineral extraction from the planets and are often seen as an important supplier of minerals in the galaxy with the Terrans being their main buyers. With increased threat from certain greedy Terrans, the Aspha Miners have extensive defense structures and technology to defend against intruders.

Marauders

The battle war long and hard as both sides knows the importance of Earth. However due to the now large resources at the rebel`s hands they soon erode the UW`s defenses. One by one the planets within the solar system was taken over by the FW, soon it was Earth`s turn. Earth was known to be the most secure fortress of all Terran planets, to invade it would be very hard. The FW used long ranged planetary bombardment. After sometime, most of the defenses on Earth were destroyed. The remaining UW members were forced to try out a new weapon which was still far from completion. 
 
Somehow this weapon was effective against the FW`s fleet. Only after 1 hour almost 20% of the FW was shot down. The UW`s rash decision of using the untested weapon non-stop for such a long duration caused a melt-down in its` power generator. The effect of this melt-down is catastrophic. 
 
Until this day researchers and historians aren`t fully sure what actually happen. It just seemed that the entire solar system, along with Earth and the FW`s entire fleet disappeared. 
 
With out Earth the UW`s power quickly eroded and marks the end of the Unification War period. 


Feudal Empires
 
After the collapse of the UW in year 9500, the fight for independance was over. Now each colony is being run by its` own goverment. However peace does not stay for long. Ambitious colonies invade weaker ones to form bigger empires. It is just a matter of time before the entire galaxy falls in to a large scale all out war against each other.
 
 
Current
 
This is where you start off at. It is 500 years (more or less) after the end of the Unification War. You are the leader of one of the colonies in the galaxy. This is where you start writing your own destiny.

Unification War Period
 
After the year 4000 many distant colonies are declaring independence from their rightful governmental owners. Because most of these governments are on the UW short for United World council, the UW declared war with these troublesome colonies. Little resources were allocated in to this fight with these troublesome colonies as more resources were spent trying to build up the UW`s main fleet and army. The UW started building up their army because they knew that it is just a matter of time before a large scale war erupts. 
 
More colonies declared independence after seeing more and more drop in stability of the UW. Chaos reigned in the large empire of the Terrans. This quickly escalated into total war with the UW waging war with various small colonies. 
 
These rebelling colonies started to start colonizing on their own. This is caused by the UW invading their planet or as expansion. After a few hundred years the UW was unable to really get rid of the problem problematic colonies. This is because for each colony the UW was able to invade, the rebels would have colonized another 2 planets. 
 
This went on for a few thousand years with the UW trying to stop the rebellion. However luck turn against the UW as more and more of the newly colonized colonies banded together against the UW. It is clear that the UW was fighting a losing battle. 
 
It was during the end of the Unification War when the Free Worlds fleet (FW or Free Worlds is the name of what the rebel now call themselves) launched an attack on the solar system trying to get to Earth, the Terran homeworld and the center of UW power.

Expansion Period
 
After the year 3000 various governments raced to the stars as the hyperspace drive was developed. Most research and development funds were diverted into this expansion scheme to quickly expand the area of control thus power for most of these governments. All this due to a Terran law stating the first person to claim a planet thus becomes the rightful owner. 
 
Countless number of colony ships were quickly constructed and sent to charted and uncharted space regions to quickly claim uninhabited planets. To better navigate and to map the galaxy, various areas of space are mapped into various sectors. 
 
There were countless weaker alien species that were eliminated and these cases not ever reported. The Terran species have resorted to stealing other alien home worlds for their own purpose. Luckily for the Terrans most of the alien species found at this given time proved to be of no threat to their superior technology. 
 
For a while as there is a lot of free room to colonize and to claim, the number of wars seemed to have lowered to almost none. The United World council was formed to replace the United Nation council. This council contains all the Terran governments in the solar system of the Terran home world. 
 
This peaceful expansion period came to an end when the United World council announced a stop to such rapid colonization. There were complaints that several higher technological alien species had been encountered. The main reason may be due to the United World council not having the manpower to govern all its` small and far away colonies. 
 
It is just a matter of time before these colonies declare independence from the United World council. This marks the end of the expansion period and on to the Unification War era.
