i`m starting out as a miner on RT.
I know there is a huge mineral shortage there, but still does that make a mineral miner the best way to go?

With or without mineral shortage, mineral miner always earns a lot :)
Depends on play style. I`d suggest mineral. Quick start, don`t need to worry about land values. and you post it on the market... it`ll be gone the second it`s up.
