U Class and Gordo

How about we just get rid of Gordo and U class planets all together. Those with gordo planets would exchange them for clusters of equal size and all U class planets can be deactivated. Than we can go back to old school type warfare and and it would be allot simpler than messing around with code or altering the game drastically.

Yeah, TS, it is more of a talking point at this point, I spoke with BW and he told me that while he wants to revisit this issue in the future, a lot of reworking of code is needed, and this isn`t on their immediate agenda. I will wait and see what is coming at us here, and Im sure we will be back on this point in the future.
T TranquilSuns
Ankaar, I think it`s more of a talking point at the moment. Seeing as we are using tbk`s thread and not the official one...

And it looks like you`re missing the point here entirely. A 150k fert is as effective as 437k+ Agri c2 production. Racial modifications will never change that fact. That`s all in the planet mods.
A Ankaar
How about we do one thing at a time.

If we put a cap on things and we see afterward that some planet types have mods that need changed, we balance the mods.

When you make too many changes at once, its quite difficult to predict the results, and when the results are screwy, you dont always know exactly what caused those screwy results.

I also want to point out that a 150k U fert compared to a 150k C2 or a 150k U large is exactly the same as a 1 mil fert vs a 1 mil C2 or 1 mil Large.

Capping the land isnt necessarily giving fert an advantage - its cutting fert land as much as its cutting anything else.

BW has stated that he thinks ferts are a bit too high, and I suspect we will se it dropped a bit - but I also want to remind you and everyone else that theyve also mentioned racial economy re balancing - so again, we dont want to get ahead of ourselves and change planet modifiers when we are going to follow up with racial changes.

Bringing the fertile down to earth is not cutting you at the knees.

Have we forgotten so quickly the last time an active Terran had even a 70k fertile paired with some high research? Food prices at 2-3? More food than the server could handle? Clusters mods are ok. And I`m not even suggesting making the fertile `worse` than clusters. At suggested rates, the land of fertiles would STILL be better than c3`s by a fair margin.

If you want to sit back and gordo to max fert size (very doable now), your production would be better than many of the hoarders typically. Along with that, being exploarable with an additional 75k land on top of that enormous fertile is easily accomplished.

its a difference of roughly the size of raistilin`s empire land and greenyedi`s (RT) by production.
H Helms{}Deep
Then make the mods on clusters better. Bring them up closer to what they would need to be, then they have the advantage of better mods plus ability to get more than 150K land. But dont tie an arm behind my back and cut me off at the knees.
T TranquilSuns
Main problem is just that- if people are so on board with dropping gordo limits to 150k land, the fertile itself is essentially a loophole with the mods as it is worth roughly 3x that of the best clusters per land.

I.e. 150k fert land equals 403k+ cluster land.
A Asmodean
No less than 200%. If becomes a forest, then let it be that and delete the u fertile. Do not screw with U fert too much.

We need to tread carefully here mucking about with U class modifiers...but deleting them entirely or a severe nerf will not be good and I sincerely oppose the idea.
T TranquilSuns
Currently, a fertile at max suggested gordo capacity is about as effective as having 4-5 legitimately sized c3`s.

At or around forest level production puts it more like 2-3 c3`s. Still an incredible return. Not exactly raining on anyone`s parade as that`s still dang good. You can still be a top-level contender and explore for borders day in and day out.

Dont touch the planets. Period. If you make it so an empire HAS to keep clusters to stay playing the game, Im out. Done. I left UC and i will leave this one as well. Making a U class empire is the choice of an empire, and if that means I accept a cap on land, then so be, that is what I am choosing. But to limit production AND land mass to force an empire to go the way of clusters, then no thank you. I am in agreement of capping U class, so dont get on me for that. I am in agreement for updates, and I cant wait to see that. But altering this too much, I feel, will result in what happened to UC, and will eventually kill the game by driving away players. If I have to choose a game where I have to click for turns, click for planets and babysit to keep borders, then I choose RL and will find a different game. I am but one player, that I know, but after one player leaves, then another, and another, you wont have much of a game anymore. If you alter U Ferts, I dont want to see anything lower than 200%- any closer and it becomes a glorified Forest, which are useless unless it is a world that cant be killed. Going along with TBk suggestion, get rid of them all and go with one mass of planets like Old UC- that was fun. Planet loss/gain is depending on the margin of victory. Now there is an old school game...
A Asmodean
Dont touch mah larges.
R RTKING
Good cause to be honest I think the 150k land/125 planets is a better idea
A Ankaar
I dont think were getting rid of u class.
R RTKING
How about us that have several u larges what do we get??
A americanministry
i think this problem is already being solved in BW`s proposal of capping land on an empire below 125 planets.. This mainly applies to u class
A Asmodean
No. Refer to BWs thread.
A Ankaar
I`d suggest we keep u class but cap the land they can be Gordod to
A americanministry
Well we are already low on players, not a fan of taking more stuff from people that might cause them to not play.
Z Zanarkand
lol. I`m somewhat in the middle.

I agree because U.Class and gordos do make it sort of hard for others to be able to compete, but I disagree because I am a race that it would be downright dangerous to gordo, so I can honestly say that it isn`t hard to compete with the gordo empires.
D DarthCaedus
no. people need gordos increased to catch up with the other players faster if they wont give us 150 k land c2 like the rest of you
A ArmedTradingCo
I agree with this because I am a large proponent of hoarding, but others will most likely disagree.
