Proposed Gordo Solution

So gordoed empires exist, and one could argue that they are a problem in some ways, but I believe we would all agree that it wouldn`t be fair to punish these people who have decided to gordo instead of hoard. The primary reason we haven`t updated anything with gordos and gordoed empires in mind is because, every idea that we`ve seen has seemed unfair to those empires.

So I would like a propose a multi-pronged update with the aim of providing balance to things without taking away what everyone worked for, and that proposal is simply as follows.

  • If you have less than 125 planets, then you may only gordo to 150k land. Updated Point: Existing empires would have their land reduced. Agreement so far: Sibi, Raist, TBK

  • Clustering of c3/c.4s would be changed to work as such:-

C3/C.4`s would gain 15-30% land (with a rare chance this becomes 15-50% land) upon clustering. (An example being you have 5 c2`s totalling 55,000 land and you roll 22% from the land bonus; The C3 would be 67,100 land as a result.) Updated point: Possible Retroactive application using the average value.

  • C.4 Specific information:-

Collectives would see this bonus to all c.4`s they cluster, and c4`s that exceeded 64,000 land would have their planet counts adjusted to land/1000 rounded, or 125 if the number somehow exceeded 125.

Virals would only see this bonus if they already hold at least one c.4, and have over 125 planets. Virals would also have the same planet count rule as collectives if a cluster triggers this bonus land, and exceeds 64,000 land.

  • If you hold over 125 planets then your upkeep is reduced by 10%, until you fall below 125 planets.

    Footnote
I think some people may have misunderstood my initial point, so i`ll make sure it`s entirely clear it`s 150k land across ALL your planets/colonies hence the 125+ planet limit at 150k land.

@Zanarkand retroactive application of bonus land isn`t likely to happen for two reasons, the first being it`s not something i`d be sure to do to including the intricate complexities required for it, and the second being there`d need to be enough evidence to show it SHOULD even be considered in the first place. But it`s something that`s fair for consideration given enough evidence.

I would vote for this too Raist (2 votes) and I have more than 150k land too
    R Raistilin
I have already made note that a `fair` solution would be to just strip anyone over 150k but below 125 planets down, but I get the feeling that I may be the only (albeit one of the largest) gordo`d empires who would vote for this.
    T TheBlueKnight
Also many empires economy and infra research was based on the gordo strategy. Would we receive a project to change our infra too?
    T TheBlueKnight
Raistilin and Mompy both make good points

One, mega gordo empires will still exist with no counter as now empire could ever get as powerful as them

Two, the reason people rather gordo than planet hoard is they have "lives". Many of us are in our 30`s through 50`s and if we had to worry about fighting for borders everyday, we would probably have to quit or greatly reduce our time.
    Z Zanarkand
My bad. Disregard my C.3 comment. But what about the other question?
    B BadWolfOP
i said c.4 not c.3 Zanarkand meaning the 64 planet cluster

    (specifically meaning 125 land c3`s and 64 planet c.4`s)

when ya have no need for creatin gordos as they are pretty rubbish by then ya will create other arties that can hurt your opponent
    Z Zanarkand
Wait. What about us Collectives to where the amount of borders we are allowed makes hoarding dangerous? And I already have a C.3 clustered. Would it receive this land bonus?
    E EnderWiggin
Um, yes. This seems like a pretty solid all around solution. One thing. Is there a chance we could also get rid of the increasingly negative stats on Collective/viral clusters?
    R Raistilin
So removing the ability to sit in dp and gordo up and forcing players to fight for more land is going to.... change this game from a wargame to an artie bomb game?
    M mompyuser
hmm seems an lil unfair that we cant gordo up to the badass guys like raist and sib and maybe few others:( this is goin to change the whole idea of artifacts once ya are at the limit wich will reduce this game from an wargame (fightin) into an artie bomb game.
    R Raistilin
Well, why don`t we do this instead.

All people above 150k land but under 125k planets get the land removed until a total of 150k, and then its fair to everyone!
    T TheSphere
So. I already clustered my planets. Would this mean i would get retro actively get the random land bonus. Because if not. Its essentially a forced restart for people. Especially those who have huge planet counts. But wouldnt hurt gordod emps at all.
    Z Zanarkand
    Yesss. This is great!
    A ArmedTradingCo
I like it, it encourages clustering and hoarding planets more.
    K Kingme
I totally agree with this. I`m an old player but with many breaks so I don`t have any gordo`s nor used them, but it would make me more likely to stay around in the future. Because I can`t compete right now.
    R Raistilin
Mmm, I like the idea. No punishments to the gordo`ing people, benefits to clustering.

    BW for prez, 2016.
