Proposed Gordo Solution

So gordoed empires exist, and one could argue that they are a problem in some ways, but I believe we would all agree that it wouldn`t be fair to punish these people who have decided to gordo instead of hoard. The primary reason we haven`t updated anything with gordos and gordoed empires in mind is because, every idea that we`ve seen has seemed unfair to those empires.

So I would like a propose a multi-pronged update with the aim of providing balance to things without taking away what everyone worked for, and that proposal is simply as follows.

  • If you have less than 125 planets, then you may only gordo to 150k land. Updated Point: Existing empires would have their land reduced. Agreement so far: Sibi, Raist, TBK

  • Clustering of c3/c.4s would be changed to work as such:-

C3/C.4`s would gain 15-30% land (with a rare chance this becomes 15-50% land) upon clustering. (An example being you have 5 c2`s totalling 55,000 land and you roll 22% from the land bonus; The C3 would be 67,100 land as a result.) Updated point: Possible Retroactive application using the average value.

  • C.4 Specific information:-

Collectives would see this bonus to all c.4`s they cluster, and c4`s that exceeded 64,000 land would have their planet counts adjusted to land/1000 rounded, or 125 if the number somehow exceeded 125.

Virals would only see this bonus if they already hold at least one c.4, and have over 125 planets. Virals would also have the same planet count rule as collectives if a cluster triggers this bonus land, and exceeds 64,000 land.

  • If you hold over 125 planets then your upkeep is reduced by 10%, until you fall below 125 planets.

    Footnote
I think some people may have misunderstood my initial point, so i`ll make sure it`s entirely clear it`s 150k land across ALL your planets/colonies hence the 125+ planet limit at 150k land.

oh and NPC`s will provide random borders. including small chances to get clusters depending on how well you do against them
    E EphemeralEternity
i didn`t say i understood your gordo system , though i do, more in the beginning to help you catch up and less in the end, which makes the game eaiser as a whole. which i`ve never been all that thrilled about. i`m trying to ignore everything having to do with gordos because everyone has an opinion and none of them will solve the issue without simply removing them and the land gained from them from the game which in turn means players leave which also means people stop buying paids.

what i understood perfectly was your take on random borders meaning it`s only random for the person getting the borders which means that those people who do leave good things on their borders for new empires will turn in a grab back of sadness in most cases and when an empire does have clusters up on their border they`ll most likely turn into drab mediocre planets for the guy who takes them

Ren, eh, most of the UW`s were for the challenge over the fun because it was end game. Sure, there weren`t any rewards per se, but back then you had the wall of winners and bragging rights which you still have today. However, most of the people who have UW`d are gone now if we look at people who do repeat UW`s and not one time only UW`s. That isn`t to say more One-timers should do it again, but as I talk to more and more people, I am hearing they are less likely to UW which is the reason why I worry about end game content.

EE no you didnt, seriously what i said does not in anyway help gordoers, it helps hoarders and new players

Top 15 planets by BW is 250k land right? lets say their average is 50 planets (too lazy to check)

Their average ratio is 5000 land per planet

A new starting empires average land per planet assuming he starts with 2 c2s is 50000 land, or 1000 land per planet.

Since he has 5x less land than the gordoers he gets 5x as much land from gordos to compensate for that fact (its what im proposing)

Now lets look at this from a hoarders perspective

A hoarder has 2 c3s with 75k land each, thats 150k land and 250 planets, which means his ratio is 150000/250 = 600

Compared to the top 5 he has 5000/600 = 8,3(3) x less land, so gordos to him would give those 8,3 times more land. Is that not motivation enough to hoard? This makes gordos actually useful late game.

i understood perfectly and my opinion still stands.

"futher more i`d agree to diminished returns on gordos if the land granted becomes .01 land by the time you get to 150k which means 10 gordo`s for 1 land that seems nice so gordo`s will neverbe usless they`ll just start giving less than a tenth of land the more you get so then eventually you`ll need to use 50 gordos to get one land."

Im basically saying the same thing buy in a different way which benefits new empires
    D DarthCaedus
a guard with 150k c2 is still ridicilous he can kill uws by himself
    C Caramelo18
EE you actually misunderstood, you dont loose random borders, you loose the top 3, they just get "converted" to random for the attacker so people actually have a motivation to attack (even if tiny)
    D DarthCaedus
Im sorry.either give people same amount land that the gordo guys have or take away there land its simple.why because to get to 150 land on a c2 on tb would take years.rt depends how active u are.it would take thousands of gordos
    R Renegade Admin
Honestly Omegian, you of most people should know that was never an issue when there were more hoarders.

People used to UW for the fun and the challenge, their weren`t even rewards. People used to fight for C`s because it is entertaining. Not sure why this would be changed now cept the gordoed empires remove the risk/reward factor, thus decreasing fun.

On the other hand, I am not opposed to some of the ideas thrown out to add more to battles, like a random artifact or something like that upon wins. Other ideas include win contests, cash, etc etc. But that`s not the point of this thread.
    E EphemeralEternity
random borders are a no, the point of borders is to protect goodies, which without gordo`s would mean most people can`t simply replace borders with junk. they would have to fight to protect their borders and eventually when you milk them down their good planets would be on their borders because without gordos, if they have alot of land, that would mean they have to have clusters which means they can`t explore to begin with. so the your chances of getting good planets would go up or people would be forced to stay lower in the ranks providing more targets to newer players due to them being able to make less. exploring is supposed to be the best way to get planets, to a point at which all empires are not supposed to be able to explore any more.

futher more i`d agree to diminished returns on gordos if the land granted becomes .01 land by the time you get to 150k which means 10 gordo`s for 1 land that seems nice so gordo`s will neverbe usless they`ll just start giving less than a tenth of land the more you get so then eventually you`ll need to use 50 gordos to get one land.

I have to agree on AM on one thing, capping gordos at 150k land will drop activity in the game. Its pretty obvious activity is higher when rare time is up. If you make the best artifact in the game pointless and dont give any single motivation for people to fight, activity does drop.

Id rather do this, dont touch gordos this way instead:
1- first touch the colonies people receive when they attack. Make them random (different from what people have on borders) + give them a +x% extra land. Seriously one can go through this entire game without ever needing to attack anyone as theres literally no motivation to do so.

2- Gordos by default become less efficient the more land you have as basically your income (percentage wise) isnt raising much. So heres my proposal, make it so the land gordos give is dependent ot the land you have. Heres an example:

Empire A has 150000 land and 10 planets
Empire B has 50000 land and 10 planets

    Empire A ratio land/planet = 15000 land/planet
    Empire B ratio land/planet = 7500 land/planet

Normal gordo land is 20-40, empire B gets, lets say, 50% more land than normal. (ratio can be adjusted)
Associate this ratio with the average land the top 15 empires have and the difference in comparison to your own empires land. (what this means is, new empires get a benefit to help them compete better) and old empires still maintain their motivation to grow should they want to.
    O Omegian
Honestly Ren, fighting is fun for a little while, but it gets boring as many have said and or worried this would result eventually to becoming purely an artifact game. Either there needs to be a better end game possibilities or the fate of the game will go in a similar direction of degredation. I am not saying now, but it can happen gradually to where we do need to think of end game content more.

joking! But for real buff the clusters!!!! It will make the game more fun
    R Renegade Admin
Uhh AM, I don`t think Sibi has added any land to his c2 in a significantly long amount of time. No reason to, his fighting potential is basically maxed as is. He will login for the same reasons he does now I should think.

How is this political? Everyone but you seems to agree the game is more fun with more hoarders, and massively gordoed empires have forced a shift away from that because you cannot compete.

Look at UC, uncapping infra killed it because new players would join, see someone with 3000 infra and know they could never match that or catch up. We want new players yes? Then everyone needs a way to be competitive with a time and skill investment.

You talk about reasons to play? How about to fight your enemies, or just anyone you feel like, and to acquire more clusters, more land. Very few people `enjoy` the gordo process. It`s only a means to an end. Fighting and capturing Clusters is fun.
    A americanministry
I don`t meant to always be against nerfs but just the voice who says BUFF US AND GIVE US MORE REASONS TO PLAY!
This just feels political, Feel the Bern we want ur Guns and Money (Upkeep and Land)
    T TranquilSuns
And then there was raist. A true 1 percenter. Haha.

Current RT Server Average (Across the top 15 empires with the most total land):- 236,062
Current RT Server Average (Across the top 15 empires with the most total land, excluding the top 3):- 164,998

Excluding just the top three empires you see the average drop by a staggering 71,064
    A americanministry
I love that short term, I worry about long term and does sibi have a reason to even log on once he gives up all his land and cant gordo anymore? He can`t uw.... its just like wtf don`t hard cap us.... I understand the problem. I am not in favor of forcing people to hand over their land if they wanna plunder because they think they are op then let them plunder.... I think u do the buffs to the clusters and horders, ren we are all grown up now with jobs and families, we don`t want to have to fight for borders every single day to keep our empires... Give the people that want to do that a huge bonus and see how it goes. If thats not enough then do a soft cap on land. If 150k is ur number then say any empire that recieves aminor gordo or major gordo gets only 10% of the land. It effectivley caps it but still allows small growth to keep people interested and able to grow their explorable empires
    R Renegade Admin
I`m glad to see AM is among the very tiny minority here. What you`re not understanding AM is that these empires break the design of the game. They ruin all the fun of fighting. This change helps you out as a young empire. It instantly puts you in par with older empires. Allows you to be competitive. Even if you think you want that, we would rather new players have a chance.
