I wonder if anyone has even taken the time to test out E class they E class thread has been around since 2012, to me it seems like the same old story since i`ve been doing ship updates in 2008, no one bothers to test them out in yedi`s everyone uses their own intuition and looks at the stats and makes up their mind that either it`s crab, a game breaker or to good, or will never be uses. and this has happened with every ship update since 2008 each ship update I spent hours and hours testing each ship against practically ever other ship in the game making tweaking it here or there, I put time effort and thought into each ship I make
and people wonder why we don`t do massive player "Testing" because no one test, even the most basic form of it. creating a new server to try these out on or any ship it wouldn`t work, because no one would care, they`d mess around if they`d bother to test at all because at the end of the day they know they have nothing to lose, and no amount of testing will show the full scale of the impacts that any change will have on the main servers.
i think alot of people are blinded by their nostalgia, that the game has been a certain way for so long that it should remain that way regardless of it being practice, like gordos, it`s a huge issues, and something that we must try to balance around because no one wants to deal with the real issue itself and that`s the old empires that have so much land. This game was designed with the fact that if you have a higher econ then you must have more planets which make it harder for you to explore. Bringing some balance into the fray you have more econ, you have a greater chance to lose it.
Gordos were added as a fun quark they were never meant to be used to the extent they were and years and years have past since then and people have sunk time and money into these massive abominations and the slightest mention of changing the game to balance this out has been met with hostility even though they wouldn`t outright lose the land in any of the solutions, to refresh your memory one was to take their land and divide it into clusters 80-100k for c3`s and then 25k to c2`s until their land was equaled. Or making so that gordos could only only to give a max of 1200 or 1300 per planet and the would stop working there after, or the easiest and best one that BW has had stashed away for years a very nice formula that would rework how base pr and make it so exploration is based off land and not planets with I do believe the cut off for exploration would be around 80k land. But here we sit
and now with Maraus there`s always been an issue of virals building pike and tiger to ungodly prs and or spamming it but the principle issue is a race that`s upkeep should be balanced around .6 or .7 upkeep to pr shouldn`t be able to build ships who upkeep to br is 2 or 3
like TheSphere said “Somewhat gutted the pyth for viral which was an error. At this very moment no race. Infact no empire other than me and other pyth virals can kill starbases cheaply. Diamonds climb too fast for the other races and marauder too poor. Clealy a miss evaluation of the player populous and what actually happens.”
the problem surely can`t be the fact that there`s a lack of ships to effectively deal with starbases or the fact that diamond is so unfair or that the way starbases work are some what flawed, the problem has to be that pyth was designed, in fact inspired to fulfill this purpose in GC and that me in my shortsightedness have killed he game allowing Basers free rain of the ranks with no plans to stop them or deal with the issue of people being able to base up the ranks cheaply and freely because we all know Virals and lucky rich marus should be the only ones capable of having such a wonderful spam ship with such a great econ and of course they`re always the saviors of GC
well back to E class there`s a neutral class for each damage type except missile, and now that there is it threatens to destabilize GC...good that`s the point of change to shake up things I have faith in GC and that it will adapt, I also know the ships aren`t all that overpowering on their own, now time should show us what changes we`ll need to make, the only two i`ve ever had concerns with are aurora because of it`s spam potential since it is similar to lyth and the quasar i`ve always had reservations about releasing due to it`s 10 range. Of course we will be willing change them just like with any other.
I`ve got some experience at this, I designed most of the ships on this game since 2008 if you want a list i`ll be happy to provide it, including the past and current guard ships except the Zen the only paid ship I didn`t do. I take responsibility for that and I know more than anyone what an issue their ships have become, there`s a bit to much diversity and their br along with their over all hulls and shields needs to be put into check, my point being let the e class sink in for a bit it covers a lot a holes a lot of races are missing, there`s 4 new missile ships but there`s still 6 fez ships, that are still vastly more cheap than these despite the increases that will be able to deal with them on practically any attack mode along with ships each race has that can takes these ships with some strategy or another
and no i`m not going to make a new race using 4 ships as mundane as the E class, when the times comes for a new race it will be new along with new concepts and the ships will be more inspired than E class.
As for fodder, has anyone bothered to look at the past winners list in a while, since say 2012, if not i`ll save you the trouble of looking and it goes miner, miner, miner, miner, something else, miner, miner, miner, something else, miner, miner, miner, miner. And here we have the race that everyone is so sure of that has the worst ships in the game that takes so much effort to win with and yet miraculously here it is winning more UW`s than anything else, I mean it`s ships are so horrible right, how do these people ever get planets and hold on to them to even get to the point where they can UW?
The fact is Miners are rich more so than they should be entitled to it doesn`t matter how many times you beat one down if you are able to win against them, because they`ll more than likely make any money they spent, if they didn`t make money the entire time building, back in a very short time sorter than you as another race will be able too and they`ll eventually get above you and rain death in the form of counters on you and use their pr advantage for everything it`s worth.
Another favorite tactic of miners especially on TB is to build fez fleets to a pr to where it would take a few days at the least if not a week for someone to build up to challenge them thats if you can get past their fed mates protecting them, when they`re there sitting on practically nothing upkeep wise, they`ll make money and save up and when they`re ready they build more fodder, then throw a few other stacks in there and boom you got yourself a UW fleet, depending on the server those will generally end up succeeding so long as they have something more than fez in their fleet, because if nothing else miners ships are resilient at absorbing damage at an economical rate it`s even easier if they or their fed mates throw out historia`s enough to annoy those would resist so that they won`t bother to waste their own artifacts to bring down and empire that`s trying to kill itself anyhow.
Fodder are an issue these changes have not killed their usage, it just cuts down on the abuseof this ship they are still extremely cheap when compared to other ships but this will hopefully make people plan out better fleets, to stop trying UW`s in which half to 3/4ths of their fleet are Fodder or more in the case of some TB UW`s. Let these changes play out and give them a chance
