Any chance of fixing the income rates for commercial Terran`s, they are clearly far to low and loose out to food Terran`s at what is it any food price above 4?

Should be an easy fix I hope, juts change to racial modifier to something positive.

Or are Terrans not supposed to ever go commercial, and the missions are just plain wrong?

Being market dependent doesnt mean that you cant make a lot of money. Hes simply stating that, regardless of income, miners need to buy food. In fact, the fact that they can profit off such high priced food doesnt make them less dependent on market, it makes them a bigger player in the market. It means that they will KEEP ON BUYING even as the price increases, whereas other races like tax viral will really have to depop at a certain point.

Being forced to depop takes a player out of the market until prices drop. Being able to continue purchasing means that miners still make money, and food empires still make money.

Commercial terrans are have to buy food very rarely (Their pop shouldnt be higher than their land total) so they contribute very little to the market.

I think one possibility is simply changing the modifiers on turn based servers. Turn based servers are obviously incredibly unbalanced, and any lack of balance becomes a glaring problem as player population decreases. Honestly, where the games are at now, I think turn based servers on both uc and gc should simply be closed.

Instead, open a new server much more like the DM server. Have it be fast paced and experimental as far as new mods / races / ships and stuff go. Anything very popular and able to be balanced on the DM server can be migrated over to the regular RT server for long term players to enjoy.

DM`s could last a weekend, a few hours, or a month at a time depending on the speed we want to go with.

Nah but someone who is market independent shouldn`t make as much money that exploits market.
A AdmiralSarek
contribute to the market yes, but not as dependent on it as it would first seem due to the high income potential they can still just suck it at high food prices.
O Omegian
Your missing the point on tax miner though, they depend on food buying and are contributing to the market. Which means they are market dependent than independent.
A AdmiralSarek
Sibiriangun, the problem is a taxing miner risks next to nothing as well, and makes more money, even with food at like 30. Slight lack of balance there.
S Sibiriangun
Terran commercial should IMO be a very bad income path. It is market independent, thus not contributing to the server and it is as such the easy/realiable income style and should therefore be worse than any other.

Sarek consider that commercial terrans would have made more than agri terrans for at least 3-4 years on fast, when food was at 2 and the past 1-2 years on normal, where I cant sell 90% of the food I make for instance. So its not a hopeless income style, but when you risk nothing your gain should also be minimal.
O Omegian
I`m not bringing artifacts into the equation sarek. I am stating purely on what any player can get planet setup wise.
A AdmiralSarek
No artifacts limits the land hording a lot for a lot of people, including me.
O Omegian
@ Sarek, I stand to my original comment that commercial terran is supposed to be a big land, hoarding planet playstyle, not one where you are able to explore to make mad money like other race types. Thus saying you can`t make money and fight when you want is a valid point to say, but commercial terran in my opinion is a pick and choose your battles, not fight all the time unless your talking about RT.

Either way, as you gain more land & research you make more so you can fight more than the 90% you are saying. Ive played as commercial terran with lots of land and was making closer to 15 mil a turn and able to fight fine.
A AdmiralSarek
Omegian, 5million per turn on a turn based server is rubbish, losing money past about 5 million pr mean you spend 90% of the time not fighting. I have something similar to this on the ultra server. My tax miner with 60% of the land makes about 5 times the cash. that is a large difference.
A Ankaar
It was really just a funny example. I didnt think wed really have 5k or 50k or whatever it was that I said haha
O Omegian
@ Sarek - I was not referring to gordoing at all. I was merely looking at this from a TB perspective instead of RT. An empire with 100k land and 101 research makes about 5 mil per turn which is adequate as a self sufficient empire. Any more land or research would just make it better from a self sufficiency point of view.

@Ank If we are going to tweak planet mods then it would need to be minimal +/- mods or you would need to throw away u.class then to have bigger mods, however +5k agri would be overkill and I think a little unfair to what other mods are out there. Its not like U. Larges get to make +5k to industry or comm. Then you have to tweak the mineral miner formula since it factors in # of planets.
T TranquilSuns
You may as well close the thread then. Because no lol.
A AdmiralSarek
Thought we are getting sidetracked from just doubling the Terran commercial profit, whatever that means to their % race modifier.
A AdmiralSarekOP
I think as part of the changes the artifacst would get changed, or at least just remove the land size changing ones.
T TranquilSuns
That would heavily increase the benefits of the already broken artifacts. Unless planet sizes were readdressed as well.
A Ankaar
It went best with the scrapping of the entire planet parameters we have now though.

Remove classes, make it so any planet can have you know, from -100 to +100 (or whatever range) for each mod. Gives you a chance to get a decent size agri cluster, or industry, or whatever other mods they have, without just going straight for barrens every time.

As it stands, no planet other than a barren (or s desert) is ever worth keeping (U class aside as well).

Just take the modifiers of the 5 planets youre clustering, avg them out, and you have a new cluster. Makes more sense and creates some variety in planets.

Would also be sweet to find a 50 land planet and then realize its got like 5k+ agri mod or something haha. Like ahhh, maybe I WILL hold on to this haha
A AdmiralSarekOP
Ankaar, that actually sounds quite neat, maintaining the base planets modifications, and makes a lot of sense.
A Ankaar
Its not new. Its been heavily discussed by Badwolf and co haha. At least the idea the clustered planets could retain values from whatever they were made from - like 5 forests being clustered to make a strong food producing c1 (if forest is even a food producing planet, idk haha)
A Asmodean
*Taps chin thoughtfully* Now that is a completely new idea.
