I was doing the missions and I got to the one where you build scouts and get 4 planets. Then I got attacked by someone and the planets are gone. My credits are now like minus 270k and I am stuck as I cant seem to pay for anything to scout out more planets. Any advice?

Next time take it more slow. Make sure you wont go into negative when scouting. Build up your infrastructure on your planets and increase your infrastructure research to gain more credits per turn

Building scouts cost credits, so you spent your money on buying them. Upkeep is also a factor. If you`re in debt then sell your minerals/ore and disband all your ships and don`t use turns until your minerals and ore has been bought.
