What is a Control Center and do I need one?

Archived thread. It was closed and moved to the archive, which is where the board has
always kept closed threads. Nothing has been lost — every post is below.
As Yoshi said, it is a mission. Doing missions is only really needed to change race, if you ever wish to do so. A list of races and what missions are required to restart as each can be viewed in `Options`, then `Restart Empire`. If you do that mission though, you don`t really get a control center or anything from it. It is just there as flavor text, a storyline of sorts.
