1. What`s a good way to make money?

2. Is there anyway I can adjust the max amount of turns I can have?

As a Terran empire the best way to start out your empire is to build yourself a good economy to build on, the easiest way to do this is to assign 50 land to housing on your homeworld and the other 450 to comercial. Since assigning land to an infrastructure uses ore you will need to buy some more from the market or dig it up from explored planets. While you are doing this you will need to spend turns researching comercial infrastructure on the research page as this increases income from comercial. Once you have between 20-30 levels in comerial you will have a stable base for an economy, you should then proceed to research everything on the lower half of the research page except the capsule lab and the kalzul overmind project (you can save those for later). Once you have done this you are ready to step out into the big wide universe and start battling and learning that. please refer to exule`s game-guide for more info.

The only way to get a higher maximum turns is to purchase a paid account (about $6) and that gives you 150% turn storage so on RT you get 45 instead of 30. you also get many other paid account benefits such as faster turn regen and thinks like multiple colony plunder.
