Well alot of people haven`t spoke up because they know the likelihood of this idea ever coming to fruition.
You have to think about how far it is to begin a policy of restarting people when for 10 years no one has ever had to worry about it there was no disclaimer stating that in X amount of years you will be forced to lose things.
Gordo`s are a major issue on RT but some people have spent over half a decade gordoing their own planets, others have spent $100`s of real world money buying gordo`s from others for years and yes while again this does create huge balancing issues it has also helped those unable to gain paids themselves the ability to get a paid. So yes there would be quiet a few who would quit over that and yes some may return but they would also never be as active as they once were.
Alot of players started this game when they were in highschool or college when they had more free time but now they`re working and have familys and when they get the time they log in to fight and what have you but would never really be able to rebuild their empires to become competitive again.some would quit from that because why spend more time investing into something you already did years ago when you have more important priorities.
I can see there`s some support for this idea, but there are plenty people we haven`t heard from, and some that never even bother looking at the forums and for me to even consider talking to stephen about restarting RT i would want 90% approval for the idea, then the likelihood of stephen even talking about the idea would be remote,
As far as my stance on this, i`m neither for nor against a restart. I don`t have anything to lose myself, my planets are no prize and my arti stash is laughable infact the only thing i`d actually care about losing is this "Empire age 2668 day(s)", which is one of the reason i will never UW.
Though it wouldn`t make me more active in game, infact i would probably actually play even less after a total restart, There`s a few others like me that would probably stick around but we`d do an infra level a day maybe build a fleet once a week to 3-4 mil pr and then just continue that from restart to restart until we finally decide to move on.
Also as far as Rt itself is concerned it`s not all that bad of a gap between those with old accounts and land, within a month or so a miner can build up to 100 mil+ pr once a week, for other races there`s a bigger gap but generally within 6 months or so a person who does play 6-8 hours a day on average can usually fight in the upper ranks some can even stay up there depending on how decent their luck is on acquiring planets.
Now TB servers would probably see a increased activity boost from a hard reset, especially on servers where empires have gained massive amounts of Artis from either age or from living in the goldy-locks zone of dig times. where the only way you can hope to change this is to become old yourself and invest the years, or get friends with arties themselves, because if you`re starting on say normal, you aren`t able to be on during dig times, then no matter how good you are at fighting you will always be lagging behind until all the old empires restart and thats hoping they don`t live in zones perfect for digging. No amount of skill can help you strip planets off of someone with 3 months of instant turns at their finger tips and 100+ infra on a server that takes over 18 months of turns just to get that 100 infra. at least not on your on or until you bank up some infra and arties of your on.
but it still wouldn`t be all that fair to restart things there either.
Thats why i would rather push to get coding access so that DM sever could be fixed and modified so that it could be used as a server where people can sign up to play Knowing that within X amount of months their accounts will be restarted.
