Hard Restart of Slow Server

I`d like to open up a discussion of a hard restart for slow server as a means of revitalizing the server, an experiment of sorts and see how things would change.

This is slow server only.

I think we should have input, for or against it, from members of each empire actually registered on the server before a certain date.

One idea: next UW (or series of UWs) on slow will result in a complete server restart.

Idea #2: As compensation, everyone on the server gets a UW ship when restarted. But only as a one time limited time deal good for 120 days after the hard restart. Spiffy, right? :P

i`ve cried for hard reset of everything for years someone let me know if it happens, could be fun to smack you all arund and call you jennifer, on equal footing. Make all time or no time rare dig time and remove vacaction mode while you at it (or install 6 border loss while clicking vacaction button).

Yes, that would make things interesting, although 2 days worth of ultra turns is like 1500+ turns. Not that it wouldn`t be super fun and would allow you to max out research in a year or less if you did nothing but research. Compare that to the 11+ years you`d have to play on normal server to accomplish such a feat (legally). :P

Change the slow server to have the same speed as ultra, but 2 days DP, so people like me who sometimes have trouble logging in can play on the server (and obviously increase the turns storage limit to store 2 days worth).

So, just because there aren`t many people online on that server when you check the list of people online, you thus draw the conclusion that nobody plays that server or nobody appreciates having that server around? That`s a brilliant conclusion you`ve drawn. I know of a good number of people who only play/keep slow server accounts (self included), whom I am quite sure would quit if there`s no more slow server. Is that your brilliant solution?

I try to measure activity by checking it a few times a day. And most of the time i see more people on fast then ultra.
Aside from that, the cluster UW that happened sometime ago was more then enough to prove that people are not active at all in ultra.

the people who play on ultra log in for like 2-5 minutes, just long enough to use their 100 or 150 turns... of course you wont catch them online much

TPE. Your way of measuring activity does not make sense. Of course people are not online as much at slow as you only get a turn every 30min.

You could also measure how many of the generated turns is actually spent on average on each server. Would Maybe be a little unfair against rt. Or you could measure the amount of empires sitting above np.

That said. Rt is generally a little more active. I Think there are two reasons for that.
1. Its more appealing for newbies.
2. Rt has had a much higher priority in the staff when making updates.

Speeding up the initial research (for both Slow and Normal) is a good idea, more would probably play on those servers.

Fine, no UW ships, IT WAS JUST AN IDEA!!!

But I still think that having an even restart of the server, with BTCs given to all and taken away after 10-15 days (if unused) is a good idea for the simple reason of speeding through the research portion.

Why don`t we just remove those servers that are too inactive. Hence Ultra. And maybe even slow this time around.

wouldn`t comping people who have existing accounts on slow defeat the purpose of the restart. and i am 100% against giving out UW ships for anything other than completion of a UW.
