as morbib and disgusting (and old) as thread this is, i would be remiss if i didn`t digress and mention the fact that `not-smart` (i noticed The Pakistani Empire`s post) still pops up on the filter almost a decade since i first came here as a young whipper snapper . i thought this would be a funny thing to remind the old timers of on an almost extinct forum. all i have to say is go AAOP. (logging on 3 or 4 times a year nowdays; a shot of nostalgia every time).

wow nice point. Freedom fighters are not the so called jihadi dongkeys who attack civilians. Freedom fighters i would say would probably be people from syria against bashar al assad.. or the people in palistine that are violated every day.

Depends on what exactly you`re targeting borok. In US rules of engangement and LOAC, civilian targets can be considered fair game if they directly or indirectly assist a "war fighter". Hence, an office building full of "civilian" contractors would be fair game if they provided key support to the troops or accomplished a critical military objective.

In this particular case, bombing a marathon event accomplishes objectives beyond senseless killing. 9/11 was symbolic and made the mastermind an iconic symbol, but the Boston bombing could have been done by any amateur.

If you kill civilians intentionally you can`t claim to be fighting for freedom.

But you realize that those extremist some of them atre terrorist others freedom figuhters.

They are still investigating the links this kid might have had, so we have no idea what the motive was for this attack. Thing is, I was not aware that Chechens particularly hated the US. In fact, their focus is on Russia, not the USA. I don`t care who this kid is supposedly connected to in Chechnia, it simply isn`t in the interest of Chechen Islamic separatists to mess with the USA. If these guys wanted to get our attention to the matter, a bombing is the wrong way to do get that attention.

What happened in Norway last year clearly demonstrated that attacks can come from everywhere. Everyone was shouting Islamic terrorism initially, but in the end it was quite the opposite.
Anyway, I hope they get whoever did this. I take it noone has claimed responsibility yet?

I won`t even dignify this by calling this a terrorist attack. This is the work of a small cult of sick, deranged people. I fully expect them to be really overweight given how they targeted a MARATHON of all things. xD

Although it kinda makes me wonder when I hear on the news that police are putting out notices to each other to be on the lookout for a "guy with dark skin and a hoodie", but not as much as when I start seeing two white men on CNN start talking about how it`s so hard to single out "suspicious individuals" because of the general diversity of the crowd.

Its terrible and Im sad to see it happen again and again and again.
