how do you increase your turnly income? im a newbie and really dont understand how it works

Build just enough housing on your planet so that the max pop is slightly greater than the total land of the planet.
Then build commercial with the rest of the land. Also, build agriculture to support your population.

Build commercial only assuming your terran....research commercial upto lvl 20 at least....follow the missions...and read the manual!
