RT Incentive Needed?

Any way we can promote some of the lesser used races on RT? Maybe buff them up a bit. I would like to propose we give Maru and collective a small food production buff? Any other ideas out there? We have almost only guards and virals left in the active ranks. Just a thought

Pete`s got the food issue pretty much. There needs to be another empire making 50% + of what I do, or the market will keep on like this. Anytime I go away for more than a day, or don`t use a lot of turns, the market empties.

On the other hand, anytime I spend reasonable amounts of time online I can drop food to 3. Right now I am not anywhere near consistent with my online time, and I don`t see that changing for the next month or so.

Someone else needs a big agri empire to really stabilize the market, or I need to lose my social life :P

DP: i think everyone is aware that it the food market goes up and down, and they are not discussing the fact that it does so, but rather the reasons for it.

This game is 10 years old. The food market is still fluctuating like a mad - probably worse than ever. People want to understand what causes this.

Gordos is mentioned and the fact that the game has two few players compared maximum production of a large agri empire. It means that few agri emires very easily dominate the market. With market that can contain food for 2 days the game become very reliant on having these people online, which you cant expect them to be everyday all year.

To those who have not seen and read posts like these a thousand times :-

1. The food situation fluctuates like this regularly, on a quarterly basis by my reckoning. Food goes up, a big food empire ( or more ) VM`s , people go to agri due to high prices and tax empires crying ( or restarting ) . Food goes down, we have an influx of food and not enough people to eat it ( as has happenned the last few months with food as low as 3$). People restart and go tax

REPEAT. The situation will resolve itself

2. The coding issue with Stephen as i understand, is that basically Stephen has the code... Admins cannot access and change what they do not have. Though they have done a great job with what they can do.

having said that it would be best to pose this question to an Admin...

That is all

what programming skills....
P PistolPete
I am pretty sure the Admins would have taken this obvious step if they could without Stephens programming skills.
P Peon4PresidentOP
Well I don`t see why we would need Stephen to change the income/upkeeps to make a balanced market so that 10billion to one race is relatively equal to 10billion on another race
P Peon4PresidentOP
Yah cause we got these guards buying food and reporting at 50-100 to get fed cash unfairly....
P PistolPete
When stephen programmed the races he didn`t really think it all through. The largest mistake is probably that races dont have equal upkeep and income streams on an absolute level.

I would like to see more incentive for agri empires on rt.. Everyone went guardian and so they won`t be market dependent.

Change these from neg to positive and it would be a good thing

IMO, collective are just terrible hard race to play...Maru are easy but they take paid status to play. If they were free more people would play them. Now mind, you when I say easy, I do not mean easy as Miner or Terran, but not to much more difficult that Guardian. I applaud those that successfully play collective.

I suppose it`s already been discussed and considered but is there any chance of a Black Market mechanism getting implemented in GC(hopefully without requiring the assistance of Stephen) ? There`s literally ZERO food up right now and this is causing relatively big taxers such as myself to feel even further demotivated to play the game as it is.

Either that or just do what BW did ages ago. Post X amount of food stacks at price X each day from an admin account or something, so that taxers(other than guardians obviously) can actually play the game. I see no way how we`d get new players in when old players who love the game feel like quitting in the first place.
E EphemeralEternity
get 200 people to join and play 5 hours a day every day. or if you want there to be more maru or collective on the server lead by example.
G GalacticMercenaries
well what can we do to get other players to go maru collective
M MastaKilla
I agree with EE. Gordos have killed the game.... thats just how it is and nothing much to do about that as things are. Coll and maru are fine comparing income to upkeep.
A Apollo
maru and coll are fine, they just arent fun to play in the current population we have now. its nearimpossible for a coll to fight a guardian and win without the coll 1st having captured 30% or more of its pr in tyr/herc.

maru is fun for newb hunting but players cant be on all day waiting for DPs to end.
P Peon4PresidentOP
Well how about rewarding the collective who fights and
Clusters into a Collective c4 by raising their output on food just for their planet type. Mari and Coll need some small boosts to help them compete with the explorable gordoed zero risk races
B blabhead83
In order to make these high land clusters less effective, maybe nerfs to the eco bonuses as the land increases? Or make inner planets able to be attacked (not able to take them away, but maybe something like a sabotage, where some of the land becomes "unusable" - inner planets will have better defensive bonuses to compensate for this).
