Wait for Destroyers?

Should one REALLY wait until they can build Destroyers before exploring beyong 5000 power rating?

Getting Terran Destroyer for the T.Garuda is 200 turns.
Getting Photon Destroyer for the P.Thor is 315 turns.

That is a total of 515 turn of research!

Assuming one uses thier inital 180 turns to get their inital (below 5000 power rating) colonies up & running, on the Normal Server it would require 129 hours (over 5 1/3 days) of nothing but research to be able to build both types of Destroyer before exploring beyong 5000 power rating.

Would there even be any unexplored planets at that point?

Obviously it is a catch 22, explore too early & get wiped out by a more powerful Empire, wait too long & even though you can build Destoyers your Empire is too weak compared to other Empires to sustain any prolonged conflict.

There are an infinite number of planets to explore for, you do not have to worry about a shortage. And researching all of your ship types as well as having several levels of infrastructure for income will be helpful against slavers and plunder empires that are at low PR once you do go above 5K PR.

It will take a month or more at least to get done on normal, but it`s worth it to get all your tech done right away, no matter what server you are on, the only seriously un-needed things are the Capsule Lab and the Overmind Project.

515 turns of rfesearch is only a few hours max.

and i also us the same battle strategy type thing as EE.

when i have a new empire on normal i don`t come out of NP until i have all my ships research the cap lab done and atleast 20-30 lvls of what ever infra i want to base my econ off of. thats my personal preferances, though you could always come out when ever you which, and if need be you can always go back to below 5k power rating
