Right, there had been threads before discussing the fact there is little fighting going on in the upper parts of the rankings list of GC RT. The reason to this was many empires are not willing to spend or did not have the recources to match other super empires who can stay up top as long as they want. Currently all I can see is Sibiriangun and some SBers fighting each other over the 100mil line constantly and it took all of these empires a long time to be able to do so (research, planets etc) which in return results in a stagnant game altogether. A change in max power had also been in a discussion before I think and I know this can`t be done from a code point of view but maybe we can just set a limit which we all respect.
I just want to see if people would be interested in setting a cap at lets say 70mil - 150mil and see if that would get more fighting going on. I think many people would like to fight up high but get demotivated by the fact they have to climb for an entire day without certainty of surviving up there at all. This is not an idea to confront SB personally, I just would like the game to be more active up top as well.

What do you think? XD

43 Alot of what you`re saying are assumptions and in my case are 100% incorrect and are 100% incorrect in even alot of empires of SB

"Firstly explorable empires at this power range is just an insult. If you want to go high on an occasional basis no problem but sitting constantly at high PR and staying explorable seems very unbalancing. I realise that the underlying issue is Gordos but I don`t think they could be fixed but maybe some sanction on explorable empires staying high could be considered. "

In all honesty i 100% agree with this and it`s really one of the huge problems i have with RT right now..

But you also have the fact that massively gordoed empires exist on all sides of RT right now in SB for example there`s really only 1-2 empries who`ve got massively gordoed planets.. but if you look outside of SB you`ll find countless empires all with 100-300k+ land explorable off a single colony and i can count 7 yes seven off the top of my head..

In reality how is a fed supposed to stand up against that without gordoed empires of their own.. Yes this is what RT has devolved to it`s sad and there`s no real fair way of fixing things..

"Secondly huge Arti stacks. I will admit to having a reasonable stack of Arti`s at my disposal but there is no way I could ever match the sort of stocks the old empires have."

Massive artifacts stores you mean like this?

Minor Suerte Rare 72
Major Suerte Rare 7
Minor Requerido Rare 21
Minor Gente Rare 1
Minor Alimento Rare 4
Minor Cosecha Rare 1
Minor Tierra Rare 1
Traicione Rare 5
Minor Barrera Rare 8
Minor Gordo Unique 10
Minor Afortunado Unique 4
Major Afortunado Unique 8
Minor Estructura Unique 1
Major Producto Unique 9
Grand Dinero Special 1

I seldom dig and typically i end up using any artifacts i create up in quick time.. Most artifact stores on RT which are used often are built up within week to months of digging sometimes even quicker..

In case anyone was interested we also have marauders and collectives in our fed >.> apparently EE felt they weren`t important enough to mention when he listed off the races in our fed...

it`s ok cattleya, actually i`m sorry for derailing your thread mate, but it`s hard to talk about the ranks without SB ^^

Well the only person that new about the event is myself, i didn`t even say anything to BW. we don`t just don`t like advertising these things people find out about it is half the fun. So no one knew about the event

they were the first to know

Raist is actually the one pushing for guard changes. he`s the one who keeps bringing it up, he`s the one that made BW write up that thread. i agree that guards are a problem but i think you can`t judge an entire race based on one or two super empires. There`s only two guard in SB, but there are plenty WAY more than that hitting us on a daily basis. The guard nerfing thread was just shoved off by the majority of players despite the fact there is something wrong. Would nerfing K class be the solution? maybe.

Personally i think miners are the biggest problem on the game, but i don`t think other staff think it`s the worse balancing issue. My problems with miners isn`t about their ships. it`s the fact that there econ is way to high. Miners are supposed to be the race on the game that provides cg`s and minerals and helps eat food on the game, but what usually happens is miners eventually get rich, rather fast and they start absorbing all the resources on the market they can. and most miners never use the resources they save, your one of the few exceptions 43, you fight...that`s what money and econ is all about is fighting.

the only real solution i see to this is to either double food demands for miners making it so they burn food faster and it would be nice to have a mineral tax something like miners can sell minerals at 1000 but due to the tax they only receive 70% of that. or have it so that mineral generation is based off of land size as well as colony type that`s something that could never be done.

i think we all know that one of the biggest problems on RT is gordos.

we claim there`s no agenda on our part because there`s not. i don`t know why you precieve that our actions have an agenda, i don`t see it. we have miners, virals, guards, and terrans in our fed. it could be argued that every action we take to bolster one race would be to give our fed an advantage. Just the same that there are multiple races against us so there are always those that will that we`re doing it to make them less effective.

and how can we run the game more openly, we tell you the reasons why we balance things when we do, we listen to suggestions and we consider them. the only thing we do keep behind closed doors are cases because we believe in the privacy.

i`m sorry but we won`t tell you what goes on, but how do you know that we`re not acting in our best interest? well, if we wanted people who oppose us to be gone then frankly there`d be none of you left. Long ago you would have all just been restarted and or Blacklisted. but sibs still here, your still here and so are alot of other people who oppose us because either your not cheating, which i`d like to believe, or you`ve just not been caught yet. we`re not as petty to control the game like that.

i cringe every time we find out that someone that openly opposes us is cheating, because i know the firestrom that always ensues. it wouldn`t matter if we shared the case publicly with everyone, there would still be those claiming that it was all made up by us despite the proof i`ve seen it before. but despite that it`s our duty handle cheating so we must

you may say that well you wouldn`t do something so drastic and obvious or you`d be playing by yourselves. maybe you let your own fed mates slide on rules, afraid not...our fed mates get no slack. just recentally HighProbabilty was caught cheating, he got mad and abandoned his case, i left him in the fed for a week hoping he would come back an accept the punishment and continue to play..but alas he hasn`t done so yet.

we know we`re not going to win any popularity contest, it`s just a fact of the job. it also hurts us that the staff members of SB aren`t horrible at playing this game that always leads to accusations of abuse of power and it always will. but what would you have us do, should we purposly lose battles, or strive for mediocrity, should we bust up our fed and make it so no staff can ever been in the same fed? Would people really have us play at anything but 100% of our potential?

Honestly the only agenda we have in this game it to try and keep it alive and fuctional for all of us yes it`s only words words i can`t prove and even when we try to prove it through action, like Raist wanting to nerf guards. things get twisted then opposing guards assume we`re doing it to make them less effective.

you just can`t please 100% of the population 100% of the time.

Cattleya I think the reason that I went on an SB rant is that I think the reason there is little action up high is because one massively OP fed controls the ranks and there is little chance that there would be a change unless everyone else bands together against them. This being SB means I personally feel they are the reason the game is dying. I feel there are 3 major problems which could be addressed that would limit the power of high empires.
Firstly explorable empires at this power range is just an insult. If you want to go high on an occasional basis no problem but sitting constantly at high PR and staying explorable seems very unbalancing. I realise that the underlying issue is Gordos but I don`t think they could be fixed but maybe some sanction on explorable empires staying high could be considered.
Secondly huge Arti stacks. I will admit to having a reasonable stack of Arti`s at my disposal but there is no way I could ever match the sort of stocks the old empires have.
Third massively ancient empires. I`m sure this would be hugely unpopular but some sort of either forced restart once a certain age is reached or a progressive handicap applied to older empires. When I started it was massively intimidating going up against empires with huge ages which would obviously have massive resources compared to me. I think forcing or encouraging empires to restart would help keep the game fresh.
In an ideal world these could be fixed with coding but in the real world where that isn`t going to happen some sort of collective action by the community/staff could be applied to these issues.

On the subject of SB, not everyone hates them. They are primarily vet empires with max infra or close to it, max arties, veterans that have been friends for a good chunk of most peoples lives. I have found no evidence of foul play on their part and believe me I looked. And as much of a donkeys behind that Raist is his empire can afford to sit high and top 5 everyone as long as he wants to thats his right and hes not breaking any rules. Its just that his income is unnatural and way op for this server but its his and he worked for it. Do I like Raist? No, do I respect him? Yes absolutely. And if this game wasnt so run down we wouldnt nit pick things like this guy is unfair or he hit me too much. No one knows what goes on behind the scenes so forget about it and just play on for whatever reason that you do. Perhaps employing my suggestions below is a good way to get players focused on other things.
D {DrKsT}GuArDiAn
I would say no, lowering a pr cap would not increase activity. As apposed to other games their is no incentive to winning no "pvp" bonus so to speak from getting consecutive wins or total wins. The only reward is bragging rights and territory which is enough for a small group of players but not many. So where is the appeal in spending what takes so long to build up to go crunch numbers in a math match.

The staff volunteer their time they dont get paid so they wont sit their monitoring the server and handing out prizes every five minutes. Fighting and hoarding are the only two things to do in GC unless your Badwolf then you can just look pretty everyday :). GC is so run down and the player base is so demoralized they dont really have an interest in putting in the time and effort and have nothing to show for it except a color, either green or red and thats it.
.
Since fighting and hoarding are the only two things to do in this game I would propose the following ideas

#1 consecutive wins in a row at a certain pr can be turned in for rewards. A different set of rewards for each race that increase the higher pr you maintain. Rewards should primarily be income/resource/arti based

#2 rewards for hoarding and reaching a certain holding amount should be rewarded. These rewards should be some form of battle enhancement or temporary ship reward since races that hoard primarily arent a battle race. (Side note) A minor has become a more offensive race over the years, bases should be way better than they are at present.

Winning special playable ships for a week or so is a cool idea. Their are alot of factors for a reward system like for a guard getting their base pr over a certain amount or an A Minor climbing to a certain pr. Im sure with a little structure and some help from staff and players this can be easily done.

Oh also as a point of pride ( call it egotism if you want ) but 43, i hit you on agg 80% of the time.
R Raistilin
I requested the admins change guardians. I requested that all k class be changed to smaller, slower destroyer-types that were powerful offensively but weak on defense. Know what i got in return?

Guardians are supposed to be high hull, whaaaa you cant strip guard of their immunities on k class, they wouldn`t be guardians anymore! - note this was from the player base, as the admins supported my request to change the guardian dynamic.

Tl;dr - don`t lump me together with the ignorant masses who think guardian are just fine with how their ships are.

Fixed typos upon request due to raist posting from his iphone

I am pretty sure I created this thread in regard to activity in the ranks, not in regard to SB. If another fed was sitting up high on the same occasion I would have mentioned them instead. Sorry if that was misunderstood. I agree with both points forty and EE made however.
F fortythree
EE maybe you don`t but the rest of your Fed have stripped me down to nothing on several occasions. Since any changes to the game are controlled by you guys I can`t see any useful changes that rebalance the game away from the insane empires happening unless you become more open with the running of the game. Since I`ve joined Aminers were seriously nerfed in the last round of ship updates with a huge upkeep hike, notice no big aminers in SB but the discussion of balancing Guardians fizzled out, well it would since a more balanced Guardian race would prevent Raist sitting up high with ships that are virtually impossible to win against when his spam hits you on careful from 200%. You may claim that there is no agenda on your part but actions say otherwise. Personally I will keep climbing to do as much damage as I can as the only way the game will make progress is if the people in charge are not the dominant empires or you recognise the impossibility of being truely impartial and consider a way for the running of the game to be more open. I think the rule sticky is a huge advance but still no where near enough. For example the current "event", who knew about it beforehand? Either no one should have known or everyone should have known, anything else is unbalancing. I have no reason to believe that SB did know about this ahead of time but neither do I have any reason to believe they didn`t. And now I`ve realised I`ve followed EE into complete incomprehensible drivel. You`re still reading this? Boy you`ve got way too much time to kill.
E EphemeralEternity
Also another reason why i think things seem more stagnant is due to well i don`t want to sound arrogant but SB, from my perspective certain members of SB, BW, myself, Raist and a few others on occasion sit up high, and it seems like every other fed builds up just to hit us, it always puzzled me as to why, because we honestly don`t do anything we sit up there. i guess people like to stir the hornets nest.

but more to the point you see all these other people building in the ranks ignoring one another despite being in different feds, it`s almost like they`re all banding together to come after SB. i have no idea what peoples goals are, i don`t know if every one just wants us out of the top ranks or what, or if people have vendettas against certain members of SB that they`re willing to side with whomever, or at least ignore everyone else to get at SB.

i think things would be alot more lively if MK Ronin DG Drunken Crusade and various other fedless or drifter empires would fight amongst themselves. i`m not saying that everyone else never hits members of any other fed aside from SB higher up you just don`t see very much of it. I know alot of the people in those fed are friends too.

maybe it`s because everyone feels that they`ve invested the energy and time into a fleet they don`t want to use it on people they`re indifferent or semi friendly with, they`d rather use it people they dislike or what have you which most of the time to me seems to be a member of SB.

i really don`t know what i`m getting at basically when it comes down to it this is just my perception and opinion of the higher up ranks. i`m not saying there`s anything wrong with it if my perceptions are in fact, the factual realities of other players GC life. after all it`s a game, most of us have known each other at the least for a few years now, and we`re comfortable liking who we like and disliking who we want. and for the most part despite everything we are still civil or down right friendly towards one another.

and again the more i type the more i fail to see any point in what i`m saying...but there it is have at it gents

E EphemeralEternity
well typically when the games was younger and more active you had different echelons of feds, you had those that strive for control of the 1-10 mil pr range, then those that fought over the 20-50 mil pr range and those that fought for control of the ranks beyond that. and many of these feds were part of alliances so you`d have one side that had a fed to hold the lowers, a fed to hold the mid ground and a high pr fed all in one alliance vs similar alliances.

but as the activity dropped there just weren`t enough players to fight over turf, pretty much everyone got their own little pr land.

there are tones of empires that are capable of fighting and staying up in the 100 mils of pr but they never do, you hard ever see them go about 10 mil pr. why? well i guess that varies from person to person. alot of empires these days just seem to love to use turns and watch their money grow for no real purpose except to have more money because they never seem to use it.

my personal reason for climbing high up into the pr is to be lazy, i like just sitting up there and doing nothing. everyone know`s i`m lazy.

even if we were to establish a max pr cap i don`t think it would change that much, it`d still be the same people fighting up there, and the rest not bothering to fight at all.

what i think would be a good idea is if a few feds formed with probably less than 10 members that focused on rank control between the 1-20 mil pr range, it would be exciting like it used to be if you could manage to get 20-30 people actively fighting in the lower pr`s where a person could completely rebuild their stacks from base in less than an hour. it would also be awesome those fed agreed not to use fed war so that things are more dangerous and exciting
S Squaks
i`m not a super empire and i climb up here all the time and hit rather fast or even before i try climbing...
W wingnut
I think we should all agree to restart our empires at the next UW.
Y Yoshi
I do agree that we see only the same empires over the100mil mark and everything but under the 100mil I can see many empires sitting there not hitting each other for some reasons. ( friends, allies, "playerx hater club") what ever is your pick i have no idea. Before trying to fix the big PR i think we should look for the lower one =/ Find some ideas or something...
