so today and i went and put some money down a Mitsubishi lancer (2013), only to find out i have to pay almost 550 a month in insurance :( , im 19 and i have only been driving for a year

Never buy a new car (when you are young) get something that is alteast 3 years old. The car will have already depreciated, cost alot less, and will save you a ton on insurance.

If you`re that young, the DONT buy a NEW car.... Thats the worst mistake. You gotta go old and reliable for now till at least age 25.
find a retail job Tumbles, its how i got my job few years ago. with all the holidays coming there ALL hiring during sept/oct :S unless your from a different country then no idea lol..i worked hard for my old lil car >.> it gets me to an from work thats it.
