Charmander: 50 miles a gallon? Thats cool... however I drive Lincoln Towns Cars with V8 engines and rear wheel drive, why? Because I can afford to. And I guarantee you if I hit one of those tiny cars... that will be the end of their car, and them... but at least they will have gotten good fuel economy.

Take a look at the above video. Its a large volvo from start nineties against a relatively small renault. The Volvo was consider one of the safest cars to crash with 20 years ago, and yet the small car trashes it.

Of course there will always be the large vs small factor, but thats more important when two modern cars bumps into each other.

Modern european cars are made so that they have stiff and flexible zones. The flexible zone is typically the front and end of the car. They are made flexible so that they can absorb the forces during a crash. The middle of the car is very stiff so that the passenger remains intact. You can clearly see this in the video I posted.

American cars has traditionally had awfull safety compared to european cars. Only recently we started to see american cars do reasonable well in the NCAP crash tests, and my guess would be that most of the american produced cars sold at the american market are still horrible.

Both cars going 40? I doubt most of that. For one thing, it`s a matter of steel vs. plastic. Nobody would be walking away from that... And I own a small car, but 10 airbags doesn`t mean I`m invincible.

Chevy Sonic w/ turbo. 375/mo, 100/mo insurance @ 23 yrs old. It`s a sweet little car, I would recommend it to anyone interested. Also, go turbo. It`s a $700 upgrade for better mileage. Pays for itself in a year :P

A thought experiment. Your challender collides frontally with one of those small cars I mention at 40mil/hour. I am almost convinced that its way safer to sit in the small car. Most certainly your legs will be smashed by the engine landing at the frontseat, and they will have to cut you out of the car body. In the modern car you will most likely be able to walk away from the incident.

Yeah tbh my old school challenger looks, feels, and drives better than any of those 50mpg vehicles that are floating about today. I have no issues in paying for the gas when i`m driving a vehicle i know wont disintegrate when hit by a bug.

Silly silly. Buy a european car with 60-75 hp that weigh less than 1200kg and i promise you your insurance will wnot kill you...

I had an a similar experience when I was 16.,.,. long time ago. I bought for my first car a 1987 IROC - Z28 Camaro. 350 V8, I got home with my prize possesion and found out it would be $3000 a year. Needless to say I worked a lot of hours in highschool to pay for it. That was 16 years ago, on a 9 year old car at the time.

I live in oklahoma where the oilfield is booming so i got an oilfield job pumping water to Rigs making 2,200$ a month witch isent bad for me cus i dont have any other expences other than buying gordos and my 100$ phone bill

Sounds like an emergency loan to get it paid, then sell to pay part of loan. You`ll pay interest on it sure but its alot less than what youd paid on the car and insurance together over several years. Also, you can use some of the cash to get another car.

Go for a 89 - 91 civic. Imports like that from those years are pretty reliable. Early Dodge vehicles arent bad either. Ive had my 02 Neon for a long time. I bought it in 04 and its been my only car.

I drive a `69 challenger, and the insurance on it isn`t pleasant.

i`ve had my truck for 3 years paid cash for it. 99 f150 4x4 still runs and drives great. not looking for anything either, i would just chill out and save money way better than spending it.
