Whatever happened to the @ $2000 per minerals that would post in market. It would be nice if there were always a ready supply.,.,. or is it the case that big empires simply bought all that 2K up for their galactic savings & loan corporations? Sure would be nice for NEW players to have minerals so they can play Galactic CONQUEST.

So you would horde to the cap (20x LESS) and work from there... Uhhh... ok. Also, hording is terribly easy. Anyways... Just as much useful suggestions as there are nonsense suggestions. Nothing will get resolved, as Badwolf stated, but Stephen can`t take our dreams away at least...

add a market for selling artifacts for in-game money.

That would be cool :)

When I was mineral miner a long time ago, I had max infra, and I was not good at fighting. I never had more than 3 c.2s. The main thing I did not like was that my income was capped. I had a hard time trying to get more planets, and my minerals never sold for more than $1k.

Also, there is never a real reason to keep more than $100 bil on hand, which is only to be used to buy any minerals posted on the market. The end result is just using turns to dig and hording minerals. I ended up with 1bil of each mineral and 2bil strafez horded.

If max storage was lowered, it wouldn`t change anything. I would still horde to the cap and then buy out food with my excess income.

What would really need to happen is a change in max cash. If I could have held more than $1tril, then maybe I would have sold my minerals instead of hording them. Or maybe add a market for selling artifacts for in-game money. my 2 cents.
G GalacticMercenaries
TranquilSuns if the max storage gets lowered the artifact that hurts the cash needs to be made useless

@ BadWolf: No offense meant.,.,. capable as in: He is only one that will ALLOW changing of code like that.,.,.
BadWolf
it`s not that he`s the only one capable (Poor choice of words on your part) it`s that he ignores help offered to him by people who know how to code due to something someone with access to the code did back in 2004.

He outright refuses to trust anyone with anything beyond html/javascript updates and to add to things when asked to do if it requires coding amendments he will simply respond with "It`s hardcoded" and that`s the end of it.

I have asked him countless times to make so many changes/fix things and everytime without fail i get "It`s hardcoded" then never again do i hear anything about it. One of the things i have asked him for is adding in a mission editor. When he said that was hardcoded i gave him the updated missions we had for all races including those without missions to which he replied "It`s hardcoded" and i never heard anything on it again even when i ask.

Fact is i do try but i doubt alot of you don`t really get just how limited i am in getting things done when every reply i get is "It`s Hardcoded" and the times he did even try to do things that were asked for they tended to end badly and had to be fixed with my or someone elses help

If you guys have some suggestions for anything that`s within my own power i`d be more then happy to listen.. As far as requiring Stephen i hope this provides you all with some insight.

Why not do things that have worked in the past. Whenever you buy minerals from the market, take the time to post 10 batches of 50k minerals. And when you buy out the market, be kind and repost 10x50k batches yourself along with whatever extra small batches you bought. Infact, if I am correct Honeybucket started that trend and for a good month or two it solved the mineral crises for new players.
D DarthPythOP
Some great ideas but are any of them feasible? Are the ideas such as Luz`s "Gifting" to hard or impossible to implement? Is there code that needs to be rewriiten? Is Stephen the only one capable of making changes?
I IuztheEvil
So the problem (and I agree it is a problem) is that no new players can snag any minerals....so....why don`t we just gift each new player (or restart) a small amount of minerals, say 25k or maybe 50k of each type of mineral. That should keep them around a little while longer...
P PistolPete
Nah.. I dont understand what you are trying to point out.

How will it change marus ability to build ships if the ship cost is transformed into mineral cost?

Anyway.. I think the races that dominates the economy are Terrans, Miners, guardians and Virals, and hence you would also gain a lot more by doing it on these.
T TranquilSuns
Some of this has been addressed, but there`s alot more than one reason minerals are always on the short;

1) ONE race does all the mining. Along with that, they don`t even have to choose that income path. Making the production of minerals even less.

2) Mineral miners do not need to sell minerals after a while. They get loaded easily.

3) Vets buying out all the minerals. And there`s more than one reason to do this as well. Not only is it a useful way to keep your money, it`s safer than actually keeping your money stacked in your bank. (THERE`S NO ARTIFACTS THAT ATTACK MINERAL STORAGE??)

4) Mineral storages are way too high. I`d go as far as saying 20x too high. Lowering mineral storage would not only A) Force mineral Miners to sell, but also B) Force the rich vets NOT to steal all the minerals for safe keeping.

Those are the main reasons I`d say attribute to the mineral storage (even a huge loss of gameplay) and I`d even go as far as saying that there`s too many viable incomes that make people pretty much independent of the market at all. And then once they are independent of any market play for income, they can still go in and take, take, take away from the people that really depend on the market. This goes for food, goods, ore. Anyways. I could go more in depth, but it`s all right there. Literally, decreasing the max minerals to 100mil, and creating a race that has even +200 mining... Good things could happen, people.
G gaaraofsand
but isnt one of the perks of being maru not having to spend minerals to build ships besides D class? if you do that then that would lower the demand of an already small group of maru..lol there poor ya know :P
P PistolPete
Its been suggested before and i havent really seen any arguments against doing it.

Remove shipcost and replace it with an equivalent mineral cost, and put a higher limit of 100mil minerals per mineral type.

It may sound counterintuitive - but the main reason why there is too little minerals, is because the demand is too little and the storage capacity too high.

I also think that reduding the mineral modifier by 50% and increasing the maxprice of minerals by 50% would help a lot.
Y YodelinChicken
bring kalzul back for an event minerals be in huge supplies problem solved everyone is active has a good fighting time. Life in gc continues. problem solved.
G GalacticMercenaries
that would have been a great idea if they could change the first race u become as A.Miner
D DarthPythOP
All these posts are gr8! Thanx for the activity. But it is confirming the Vet-Centric condition of the game. If you are a new player you start as Terran. You are new so you follow missions.,.,. So after a day or 2 of playing without minerals.,.,. they just may end up quitting without ever realizing that they can go a miner a produce minerals. Perhaps if starting race were changed to miner instead of terran? (yes I know that would be impossible to recode the game for that)
D Deathroe
My RT aminer empire is young, I started it to produce minerals.
I have less than 6 million of any one type of mineral at any given time.
I post minerals in small batches, at least twice a day.

Maybe newer players, who are readying the forums, should take note and start A Miner empires :)
L LordTumbles
I never had a problem...

then again I became a viral just as haley was restarting so... BIG boost there... But I was doing fine before that, The important thing for new people to do is MAKE FRIENDS. IF you have miner friends they can keep you up to date on when they are posting minerals and you can probably ask for orders yourself. That + Friends are just good for learning the game = Happy people....

I AGREE Though, most players are too lazy or love solitude. But its not the only reason we have no players, We should activly compile a list. If we had access to registration information we could shoot an email off to anyone who registered played for a week or two then quit, and ask them a few questions about their experiance.
W wolf359
It could be one reason new players dont stay long.... They cant fight. And cant afford mins when they are available. And most dont even know because as in an earlier post, they dont know to check the market. But, it is part of the game. Just another way to wage war...
R Raistilin
It`s not the price of the minerals that`s causing the issue. Infact if you made them cost more you`d just end up with aminers hoarding the mins even more.
