I doubt anyone here remembers me, but I used to play this game quite a bit a few years back. Since then I`ve graduated college and gone into the workforce. Recently I have been working on a tech startup and something reminded me of how addictive this game was...

So I came back to see if it finally got a facelift (we always used to complain about stephen`s lack of efforts, blah blah blah..) but found that it is basically the same, and that the user base is dwindling.

I am curious, have the powers that be considered any kind of marketing campaign for this site, even one that is cheap? Long time enthusiasts, I`m sure, wouldn`t have a problem throwing up some flyers or ads in their respective towns... I don`t know. Clearly enhancing such a platform with additional graphics and code is expensive, but I know some of you are (or were) big techies capable of doing some of this work or at least financing it. Everyone has always asked for more functionality, new ships, new this that and the other, and I am truly surprised that nothing really serious has been done since Viral got made (long time ago). I know the founder of this site is raising a kid and is clearly disinterested, but have the old-timers really given up on either buying the whole thing or campaigning seriously to do something about it?

Best,
DMM

Nope, bots are illegal, always were, but the rules are now enforced, unlike in the past where no one ever did anything.

I know people have tried to market the game in the past, as well as suggesting ways for Stephen to spread word of the game, but as far as I know, nothing has ever really come of it. Because Stephen`s selling price is so high, I know that there are several different people trying to make clones of the game, obviously better coded, and with more features, but I don`t know the progress any of them are making.

Also, sorry for not remembering your name, but while I`ve always been around, I wasn`t very active chat/forum/fed wise for the first few years of playing, so I might have missed you on your first run through :) Glad to see you back.

I mean one million... or even 100,000... for this??

And I believe that is for all of the games.. not just GC.

"Roughly 43% of visits to this site consist of only one pageview (i.e., are bounces)."

Haha.. everyones still using those clickbots to do research i guess. Sorry for multiple posts in a row.

Good to see you all, by the way :)

Putting this game at that level is an absurd valuation... he`s delusional if he believes it is worth even close to that. To most investors as it is now, its worth nothing.

Why doesn`t he at least place more power in the hands of the guides/managers who can actually get some work done and put this thing on life support? Get a couple hundred or maybe a thousand players on at once... then it might be worth something.

I made an offer to ste for GC, but as Ren says he wouldn`t accept anything lower than initial 7 figures, and I wasn`t willing to break up my investment accounts just for this.

Hey DMM. I`m still here :P

Ste will accept nothing less than 7 figures for the game :P. That`s what he`s said.

A couple million??? A game like this has no investment value, its clearly on the downturn unless someone jolts it with new code, features, and marketing. Still then it would be a feat to get any return. I would`ve thought it could sell in the thousands, but not into six figures let alone seven.

Stephen is still very much in charge, though the admins have been able to make some adjustments and tweaks which is nice. As for buying it out, last I remember Stephen posted an ad on ebay for something like... a couple million USD? That was a long time back, but yeah.

Yo, man, I remember you. You were part of my fed at some point on RT, ThePub. But this was so long ago --> I haven`t played RT in years myself. Still sticking to TB thou.
