I doubt anyone here remembers me, but I used to play this game quite a bit a few years back. Since then I`ve graduated college and gone into the workforce. Recently I have been working on a tech startup and something reminded me of how addictive this game was...

So I came back to see if it finally got a facelift (we always used to complain about stephen`s lack of efforts, blah blah blah..) but found that it is basically the same, and that the user base is dwindling.

I am curious, have the powers that be considered any kind of marketing campaign for this site, even one that is cheap? Long time enthusiasts, I`m sure, wouldn`t have a problem throwing up some flyers or ads in their respective towns... I don`t know. Clearly enhancing such a platform with additional graphics and code is expensive, but I know some of you are (or were) big techies capable of doing some of this work or at least financing it. Everyone has always asked for more functionality, new ships, new this that and the other, and I am truly surprised that nothing really serious has been done since Viral got made (long time ago). I know the founder of this site is raising a kid and is clearly disinterested, but have the old-timers really given up on either buying the whole thing or campaigning seriously to do something about it?

I remember you too Pax, cool to see all you old heads still kickin it.

Im glad to hear a clone is underway. Hopefully it will be controlled by sane people who are willing to market and expand it.

I don`t think my word means anything to him regardless of credentials, especially since I was once blacklisted from GCRT for calling the mod belial a not-smart x.... but to be fair, he was a pretty not-smart x back then and kind of deserved it. If there was something I could do to help I wouldn`t hesitate, even though I don`t play. Good memories here.

I wish I could play my man and I am truly flattered, but I have a job and a woman that demand far too much of my time... the rest of time I have free I generally spend getting hammered at the pubs hahah

but i came on here because i was hoping something had been done, and had to post this question when i realized the opposite. I cant believe its come to such a low point, shame on stephen.

Stephens problem stems from greedy self ignorance which is different, he refuses to believe that its in his financial best interest to allow others a stake a claim that they helped with recoding/rewritting parts of the game, hes the type that believes in order for him to prosper financialy it must be on his terms alone.

In america most businesses value is measured by the gross income over seven years or longer in terms of being purchased, im not sure what the gross is annually for sfgc but im sure its very small. He may be in a situation where he has way more invested then its current value but thats no ones fault but his own.

One day were all going to decide together to up and leave and unitedly join a similar game, then Stephen can sit in the empty halls of each server on top of his throne of self ignorance all by his lonesome.

That`s a shame. I don`t know if such an attitude is born out of stup!dity or ignorance... or both. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot. I really do believe that with some serious effort this game couldve gone much further.

Stephen doesn`t let anyone fix or improve things, and doesn`t fix or improve them himself either. There`s nothing we can do about that. People have tried, I`m sure people are still trying. I know of at least one person who is willing, and more than capable of seriously improving the game. I don`t foresee that ever changing.

Haha I thought the bots were being used because of that statistic regarding page bounces, or hitting the same page over and over and over and over again. Anyway, have any of you guys discussed a marketing campaign or a serious effort to do additional coding? I cannot see any reason why stephen wouldn`t allow a specific user to add on code to make it a better game and meet player desires. He makes more money if that happens and more players play.

I`d put out some advertisements, fliers and such. Perhaps we can pull another recruitment event. Winner gets an arti package or something.
