Starting infra levels

When starting out as a collective, which is better:

23 levels of agriculture and 7 housing OR

30 levels of agriculture?

I know I`ve read stuff that 7 levels of housing is the most efficient way of setting up your research, but I kind of find it hard to believe sometimes. Is 7 really the magic number to put in housing?

50 for normal and slow is pretty alright. 101 + for fast and ultra.
R RagnarokOP
Apollo, you might want to sign in on normal server. :)
P PistolPete
heh. ya. 10 months to max at RT... I`ve spend more than 2 years now and my infra is 190.
R Ragnarok
For Normal server, that`s fairly decent. You got to remember that not everyone actually plays the RT server anymore. For me, Normal and Slow are the only servers for me. ;)
G GradualIncline
50 points of research??? Erm, I will accept that not everyone gets to max research like myself, but I`d think they`d at least get to 100 infra research, see the turns per level increase to 2500 then quit there. 50 seems a little low to me.
R RagnarokOP
Sure you can max out if you play RT 4-6 hours a day for 10 months straight, but some of us have jobs and lives, or at least an appreciation for other games besides GC. Plus, I`m trying to quit the spacecrack, not overdose on it. LOL
E EphemeralEternity
on rt it only takes about 2 months worth of turns to max research, so for most players 10 months or so to max out infra on rt.

Hey i was close enough :(

*dances to the tune of being right*

So, according to WolfHaley`s math, 0 housing is the way to go. And LeonHeart, hard evidence is what we`re looking for. :)

And Gradualincline, most folks are not going to ever max out on infrastructure levels unless you play for years without restarting (or fighting, exploring, or digging), or you have a bot who does your research for you on RT server. So, for most players, the most points most vets will ever get to is around 50 points of research, or thereabouts if they actually go out and fight and be effective.

2housing, 198 agri:
2084 land lost to housing
47916 land on agri
1270732.3 food produced per turn
5001.6 food eaten per turn
L LeonHeart
Looks like i really need to whip out sum hard evidence to convince u pple.
W WolfHaley
Assumptions:
50k land on a similare c.4, 200 total research, similare c.4 is 85% effective at making food, collective race makes +50% food.

0 housing research, 200 agri research:
You lose 2500 land to housing
47500 land for agri
You produce 1271812.5 food per turn
Your population eats 5000 food per turn

5 housing, 195 agri:
You lose 1667 land to housing
48333 land for agri
You make 1263303.8 food per turn
You eat 5001 food per turn

10 housing, 190 agriculture
you lose 1250 land to housing
48750 land on agri
You make 1243125 food per turn
You eat 5000 food per turn
L LeonHeart
Maybe i`m not a math genius, but i`ve read somewhre putting 2 into housing is good, and u can c from my results as well :D
G GradualIncline
Here`s the answer ... who cares if it`s 1-10 levels difference? I mean, really, are you going to max out infra research, then rant at the miniscule amount of credits difference that those levels are going to make?
A Alpha001
Would be nice for one of the math geniuses around here to answer this question definitively.
L LeonHeart
No lol....The best would be 2 housing and all into agri.
A Apollo
collective gets to have double the population per housing before any housing infra as factored in, so you dont really need any housing infra just go 100% agri

terran 7 housing, 30 housing units on HW to fill the homeworld
collective 0 housing: 25 housng units to fill baseworld
D DarthPyth
ew yeah i just restarted and want to know also
